[ After the murmurs of job opportunities began to mix through the idle chit chat of the refugees, Ann wanted to get a few questions out to the people who may or may not have already started work. ]
Soooo... this whole jobs thing...
It's not as easy as it seems, right? I know we're suppose to work our asses off to make sure they keep the people in Thesa safe, but β has anyone had experience working with something like... that? Guards, scholars, and uh... adult workers.... It all sounds like some weird characters from a fantasy novel or something. Cliche, but given the past few weeks? Totally legit.
I guess I'm wanting to ask: how are you knowing you're a good "fit" for one of these jobs? Back home, I was...
[ She wants to say model, but she doesn't really give the deets too much. ]
Let's just say the closest I got to any of these kind of jobs were reading Shakespeare in school.
If you know of any normal jobs or have any pointers on talking with the recruiters, let me know!!! My skills include fashion, picking good places to eat, and persevering through unlikely circumstances! o(^β½^)o

It seems you're taking this a bit too seriously. Ultimately, these jobs are just a cover, aren't they? A way for us to blend into this world and get information. Whether or not you excel at it is secondary. As long as you do a passable job, there shouldn't be any issues.
Though if you find that what you've picked isn't a good fit, you can always just do something else. [ probably? well, he's pretty sure none of these positions involve blood pacts. ] Or... how did you put it? "Persevere through unlikely circumstances."
voice
Wouldn't being bad at something blow my cover and ruin the chances of getting information? It's kind of like an acting role β if you can't act (which I can!), then you don't make the audience believe you're that character.
[ Narrator voice: she can not act. ]
...Don't use what I say against me?!

..Yeah, I mean we all survived being dropped from the sky, so. Guess that's not a special skill.

Sure people and cities need protecting but those places also need business right? So there's nothing wrong earning a bit of money instead of going out to fight I don't know, orcs or whatever.
no subject
[ What a shock, everyone doesn't want to screw it up. ]
It's not even about the fighting and guard stuff! The jobs I was good at back home aren't even an option here. So, I'm kind of stuck.
Like. At square one.

un: let me KISS u *
[ Sorry, she's a teen girl and really uncomfortable with the prospect of sex right now. ]
I mean, the courtesans in history were notorious for having all the good deets but...
still. Yeah, no.
Where are you looking then? Olympia is a big place...

At any rate, it's good to see you adjusting so quickly, Panther.

[ FIGURES THIS IS THE TYPE OF RESPONSE SHE WOULD GET. She's not thrilled. Not by a longshot. ]
Wouldn't call it adjusting. [ There's a bit of bitterness there. ] Guess I'm use to thinking and acting on my toes now.

Takamaki-san... [ She sighs, mostly in disbelief because, wow. ] those are terrible skills and don't get me started on the last one. Persevering through unlikely circumstances? Sounds like pure luck to me.
[ Sorry, but someone had to say it. ]
voice
H-Hah? You too!? [ Yeah, really. ] I wouldn't call it luck! It takes a lot of tactical genius and teamwork to keep going after all the cards are stacked against you.
...It's so not luck.

You won't know until you try. You might believe you're better suited for one thing over another but it's experience that showcases your true skills.
[ Certainly she never would have guessed as a girl that the military would be where she would end up. ]
no subject
So... I should just go for it? There's nothing that "fits", but it's worth it to try to see if something...could fit?
I think that makes sense.
[ Let's join the army and do good, it sounds fun. ]
... just figure bigger jobs also give bigger payouts.

[ Yeah, he's got nothing. It's never been anything he needed. ]
I have a particular set of skills. It's how I was designed, so I just went with something that fit those skills. If you like fashion, maybe you should help the people around here with their clothes. Everyone needs clothes!
[ Is he helpful yet? ]

Pervs, that's who. [ Sorry, she's still bitter that adults are nasty. ] Which one did you end up picking...? Oh, I bet something with the scholars because you seem super smart!
[ She thinks, anyways. He can see her chew on her lip, thinking for a moment. ]
Doesn't that sound lame..? "Oh, you fight dragons and save people? I sewed a really cool skirt". Ugh... I don't want to be useless, I guess.

[ She looks over Ann's list of skills again. ]
Are there any boutique-type shops in this city?
no subject
[ She's super uncomfortable with that last one. ]
Some people have said there's smaller shops β bakeries, clothing merchants and stuff. Those sound more up my alley, at least until I can see where my friends go...

totally fine!!
Anyways.
Uh... wearing...it? I can put outfits together, but I never got the chance to professionally sew or something. Not a tailor more... uh... model...?

Given the chance, you could feel out and adapt to any situation. I'm still getting used to living outside of my typical routine. But you've been responsible for yourself for some time now, haven't you?

That's really sweet of you to say β I just want to make sure that it's TRUE, you know?
Jeez, I didn't even think of how different this must be for you... You were on a pretty focused and strict schedule...
