[ After the murmurs of job opportunities began to mix through the idle chit chat of the refugees, Ann wanted to get a few questions out to the people who may or may not have already started work. ]

Soooo... this whole jobs thing...
It's not as easy as it seems, right? I know we're suppose to work our asses off to make sure they keep the people in Thesa safe, but β€” has anyone had experience working with something like... that? Guards, scholars, and uh... adult workers.... It all sounds like some weird characters from a fantasy novel or something. Cliche, but given the past few weeks? Totally legit.

I guess I'm wanting to ask: how are you knowing you're a good "fit" for one of these jobs? Back home, I was...

[ She wants to say model, but she doesn't really give the deets too much. ]

Let's just say the closest I got to any of these kind of jobs were reading Shakespeare in school.

If you know of any normal jobs or have any pointers on talking with the recruiters, let me know!!! My skills include fashion, picking good places to eat, and persevering through unlikely circumstances! o(^β–½^)o

[ okay, okay, no more trolling. maybe. ]

Hm... well then, let's look at it this way. What do you actually want to do?

So you're a high school student.

[ no wonder she's difficult to deal with... ]

Don't worry about things like obtaining information and protecting others then. You should focus on... [ what, exactly? like she says, it's not like focusing on her studies right now makes any sense. ] ...just leave troublesome things like that to adults. These are unusual circumstances, but there's no need to put yourself in harm's way for others.

[ well... she's not wrong. and he knows this. it's not like things have really been going well for them so far, though who is really to blame for that is still unclear. if he was in her shoes... still a teenager, caught up in this mess... what he would do?

knowing his teenage self, something incredibly stupid. but the point still stands. ]

I don't doubt your desire to help, and you aren't mistaken. But there are some things that are better left to others. [ even as he says it, he knows the words really aren't very unconvincing. ]

Hmph, no, I guess I'm not really in any position to tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing. Just prioritize your own safety first... being reckless does no one any good.

[ okay, let's try to give this some more serious thought. it's the least he can do after lecturing and doing his whole "trust in adults" shpiel... fashion, eating, persevering. those aren't exactly skills that mesh together very well, but... ]

There are some clothing stores in the noble district that might be able to make use of your expertise. If nothing else, the nobles here are quite... eccentric. [ granted, that could just be said of the culture of olympia in general, but the less said about that the better. ] I wouldn't be surprised if there were some out there open to wasting... er, spending their money on a fashion consultant.

Otherwise, there may be something in the entertainment district suited to someone of your abilities. I couldn't really find anything that was a perfect fit for myself either, but I've made do somehow. [ though the less said about that, the better. ]

[ troll -> serious -> troll -> serious... that's just how he lives his life. ]

Even if you can find a wealthy patron or two, you'll likely be fine. Jobs like that tend to be more about who you know than your actual skill. [ is that a good thing? maybe not, but just go impress some rich people and you'll be fine.

...and ugh, he immediately regrets mentioning anything; of course she would want more details. ]

Security. [ ... ... ... yeah no he's not going to elaborate any further. ]

[ he's got talent. ]

Like you, I'm more concerned with the information it'll provide me. Though, I can't exactly complain about the money either. Two birds with one stone, as the saying goes.

[ and yet he still sounds oddly exasperated by it all. ]

So far, the brothel has been a decent source of intel, at least. [ oversharing, archer. oversharing. ]

Bother me? Hm... [ yeah, sort of it. but he doesn't want to admit that. ] Perhaps a bit, but the culture is rather strange to begin with.

Trying to avoid that kind of thing won't get you very far.

Even in an entirely different world, people and their... needs don't change. Some things are universal, quite literally.

[ he was just going there for fortune telling and plant nutrients... probably. ]

...perhaps it's best you don't rely on the adults here after all.

For better or worse, having a job means being bossed around. That's unavoidable. [ insert zoolander modeling montage here. ]

Hm? Oh, I will. [ wink...... except he's on voice, so he can't actually wink right now. ] If this job has any perks, it's that the madam isn't too hands on. [ whatever that means Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― ]

I'll return those words right back to you.

[ though... really, as long as she doesn't suddenly throw all caution out the window during her job search, she should be fine. ]

It sounds like you'll end up alright regardless.
