Soooo... this whole jobs thing...
It's not as easy as it seems, right? I know we're suppose to work our asses off to make sure they keep the people in Thesa safe, but — has anyone had experience working with something like... that? Guards, scholars, and uh... adult workers.... It all sounds like some weird characters from a fantasy novel or something. Cliche, but given the past few weeks? Totally legit.

I guess I'm wanting to ask: how are you knowing you're a good "fit" for one of these jobs? Back home, I was...

[ She wants to say model, but she doesn't really give the deets too much. ]

Let's just say the closest I got to any of these kind of jobs were reading Shakespeare in school.

I want to find a job that I can help my friends out in. They're ambitious and super badass — some are thinking of going to the institute and some are thinking of the city guard. I'm not sure I'm cut out for either but I just know if we ever find ourselves in a situation like before — [ She means falling out of the sky here. ] I want to be able to help.

Sometimes hope and faith are more powerful than any weapon.

[ But she gets where Ann is coming from; tangible usefulness and accomplishments tends to lends itself to more self-fulfillment. ]

You said you were interested in fashion, correct? What about designing durable clothing or armor that fits the individual needs of your friends? Or if you're good at researching places, finding places where they can train and hone their skills.

I was thinking about that. If I can get in good with the city guard — I could see what type of armor they're using. My knowledge is more... cosmetic, though... But if they're doing recon with ugly metals, it could be super distracting and reveal their positions, you know?

It's just super scary to think about putting something I like — fashion in this case — into like.. war efforts.

Does that make sense?

Scary because you're putting yourself out there with the possibility of failure? Or scary in a different way?

Also, maybe I don't want to let my friends down or do something that doesn't benefit them. Like, okay think of it this way:

If I get a job at the clinic. I could learn more about medicine here so if my friends are hurt on their job, I can help. I wouldn't have that knowledge if I was just... IDK, working with fashion.

[ It's admirable, to want to do something that'll benefit the people around her. Riza certainly can't judge, not when half of her life was spent learning skills that would benefit another person.

Would learning medicine make you happy? Regardless of whether or not it benefits your friends.

I mean, why wouldn't it? It's a practical skill to have. Uh... disclaimer to sounding totally weird: but I can HEAL my friends by other means, but I'm absolutely lame at practical medicine. I can only heal them on certain circumstances, so actually being able to fix 'em up would be pretty stellar.

Practical, yes, but it comes with its own difficulties. There are some things you can't always heal or treat, no matter how much you want to. Accepting it isn't always easy.

But if you are interested, you could talk to Dr. Ziegler.

You're really good at this pep speeches, btw.

[ She frowns slightly at that. ]

I wouldn't say I'm particularly good at pep speeches. I've just had to learn how to keep going despite all odds.

[ But most of them have by now, if the Storm and the subsequent descent have been any indication. ]

But you sound like you have a responsible head on your shoulders. I'm sure you'll do the right thing for both yourself and your friends.
