so i don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it looks like there's a definite trend of people going back into stasis without any warning
a few people i knew from back home woke up and just ended up... disappearing out of nowhere and returning back to their pods on the station
has anyone else had something like that happen to them?
maybe it's just me and i'm cursed with bad luck or something
an explanation for WHY it happens would be nice, too
not that i think it's going to make anyone worry less
i haven't had the chance to talk to darma about it, but maybe someone else has
[ not that clary is entirely certain she would trust darma's reasoning at this point, but... well, it's worth a shot. ]
uh, on a lighter note
i realize we already have a makeshift fight club in the works, but i'm looking for regular sparring partners
preferably someone who can't actually throw me through a wall and doesn't want to repeatedly punch me in the face, but i'm not picky
i figure it can't hurt to add a few new things to my skill set

Not the people obviously. The orbiters. Why put them back into stasis?
no subject
limited power to wake them up? too crowded? just to be a jerk?
i'm really trying not to go crazy conspiracy theory about all of it, but that's easier said than done.
text / un: chocobro
hey, it happened to me too
haven't figured out why yet, but it's pretty strange, huh?
my buddy's always been a pretty big sleeper, i guess
[ And then a few moments later, a second message: ]
if you need a listening ear or a complete distraction or just someone to throw punches at, i'm your guy
no subject
i know some people really hate hearing people say they're sorry, but i really am.
that doesn't help anything right now, but here's to hoping he wakes up.
unfortunately you can't draw on his face or throw him in water to get him up from this nap, or that would be my advice.
[ as for the rest of it? she appreciates the offer more than words can convey, even if her kneejerk reflex is to feel awful for burdening someone else with her own issues. ]
thanks. i mean it.
can i choose option d for 'all of the above'?

VOICE | un: Diana
I do not have an explanation, other than the one we were told on arrival. That the darkness has contaminated them, and the pod is somehow responsible for healing them.
It is hard to speak to someone perfectly healthy one day and understand how they could be lost to the darkness a moment later.
( she's speaking from experience. )
no subject
You can say that again. It's not easy to trust that they're being taken care of, either. [ especially when you only have the word of a stranger, but she leaves that much unsaid, even if it's implied.]
If it can happen at random, I guess that means it could happen to any one of us. That's even harder to wrap my mind around.

[ seems like the thing to say. ]
i'll spar with you. i'm good with hand-to-hand and a few weapon types.
[ clary's already seen her fists and work with a blaster. ]
no subject
[ it's appreciated, nevertheless, especially when clary's impression of jyn is that she isn't necessarily the gentle, emotional type. ]
there's no way i can shoot as well as you can, but i might be able to counter it.
[ might be. deflection runes may allow for that, but taking up that tasks sounds foolishly reckless. with that in mind: ]
hand-to-hand is fine. definitely less dangerous, too.

Important question - Exactly how sturdy are you?
[ Oh, and because he can't do anything seriously. ]
Is there a height requirement?
As in, 'you must be this tall to gnaw on someone's kneecaps?'
I'm asking for a.... [ Not a 'friend' ] Small. Yappy. Terrier-like annoyance.
[ Is he signing up a pet for obedience training or trying to point Clary towards someone
to kick their asswhom he'd love to see suffer a humiliating defeat? ]no subject
i mean getting thrown through walls isn't my favorite hobby, but it's not a deal breaker
[ as she's said: not particularly fickle, and the prospect of a stronger partner doesn't exactly hurt when it comes to improving herself. as for the more suspicious portion of his questions, "terrier-like annoyance" likely denotes someone like an ankle biting canine, but here? she wouldn't be surprised if a anthropomorphic dog was somehow involved. ]
i try to avoid beating up toddlers and dogs, if that's what you're asking
so maybe like 5 feet, at least
i take it this isn't the typical "i'm asking for a friend but really i'm asking for myself" situation
unless you just really like to insult yourself
un: alec
[She said 'a few people from home' so it's not hard to pin down who it must be.]
Should I feel hurt that you haven't asked me to spar with you?
no subject
i don't know it happened. i just know that it did.
[ translation: they weren't on speaking terms at the time, but she isn't inclined to say that outright. ]
i would have, but i don't know if it would be a fair fight in your old age.
:)
un: rogue
[ Offering the best possibility is all she can really do for Clary at the moment. Other than ]
I'd be happy to spar with you, though. I used to teach self-defense, and I'm good at martial arts and hand-to-hand techniques.
no subject
[ hope, as it stands, is the only thing they can cling to where their loved ones are involved. all the same, it's difficult, try as she might to preach the same to others. ]
what kind of martial arts? just out of curiosity. it might be helpful to know if i'm going up against an actual ninja.
un: 01
[ At least, that's what he'd been told prior to going in at home, so hopefully it helps? The technology used by the Orbiters was a bit different than what he's familiar with. ]
no subject
not that i'm trying to start a riot or anything, you know? it's difficult to trust some mythical strangers, but i guess it's the only choice we have.
it might be a little more comforting if we knew when they were going to wake up, but if they're safe? i'm not going to complain.

Maybe they're better off sleeping through all the weird shit.
no subject
then again, sleeping through the weird shit would just be permanently sleeping beauty-ing, at this rate.
i don't think there's anything BUT weird shit going on here, so waking up to "normal" is pretty impossible.
still, misery loves company and all.

it doesn't make any sense that it happens so suddenly like that. i'm sorry to hear that it happened to the people you know from home though.
no subject
[ that feels a little presumptuous to offer, but clary trusts that it's safe to assume clarke isn't a trained fighter like the many she knows. if clary can't get a sparring partner out of the deal, maybe she can make herself useful to clarke. ]
it really sucks, but it can't suck more than having your friends still up there.
i'm still sorry about your friends. let me know if any of them wake up?
as for how sudden it is, yeah. i feel like warning would have been nice, but i guess it doesn't make much of a difference, does it?
they'd still be gone.

turns out i should have checked the pods on the station sooner.
unless they're being replicated or have doppelgangers somewhere — which honestly almost sounds worse than knowing they're in stasis — they were back in the pods. i saw them for myself.

[ In his case, everyone from his world is still healthy and wandering around Olympia as far as he's aware, and he's been keeping a careful eye on them. The knowledge that this isn't the case for everyone is concerning, to say the least.
Not that 76 is that surprised. There's always a catch. ]
no subject
the only trend aside from that seems to be that they were taken back to stasis without any warning, which gives credit to the idea that it might have been a medical emergency.
[ or incidents that the orbiters wanted to keep quiet, but clary's already shaken off that suspicion by the time she begins typing again. ]
as for an explanation? i don't think we're going to be getting one of those from anyone but the people in charge. the most common theories? they were woken up prematurely and shoved back into stasis, or the landing had more of an impact on some of us than we initially thought.
still not entirely convinced that's the case, but i'll let you know if i hear anything else.

can't throw you throw a wall unless it's a really thin one
but i can't promise i won't repeatedly punch you in the pace
no subject
i can promise i'm not that kind of woman.
[ then again, being punched in the face is no less painful. if she trusts dutch's judgement where her abilities are concerned, clary might just be up against someone far more experienced than she is. that's par the course, truly; she can't improve herself if she doesn't accept the challenge, and she's never expected any battle — sparring match or genuine combat — to be easy. ]

i only had one roommate, but she was taken back to her pod about a week after we got settled in.
now it looks like more and more people are going through the same thing.
[ a simultaneous relief and source of unease. it may bring her some reassurance to know it isn't simply her own connections, not even the sparse few that have had the same experience, but more than a handful of people. it's a place to start with this investigation, at least, even if she still feels just as apologetic toward anyone with a similar experience to her own. ]

i guess that makes us the guinea pigs, in a way. i don't know. i'm still trying to piece it all together and hoping it doesn't happen to anyone else i know.
[ it's made her both wary and weary in equal measure, admittedly. settling in had been a distraction from it, but now that she has to confront it, it's... less than pleasant. as pleasant as giving everyone else the news, really, and witnessing the worry for their own friends. ]

[ A dire first encounter, indeed. ]
no subject
i didn't think to ask anyone for names. i'm sorry.
[ and that's a decision she's now coming to regret it, as aware as she had been that pressing anyone for further information might have been rubbing salt into an open wound. it's something to take into consideration, regardless; a directory to name those that have returned to stasis could be helpful, but she'll think on that later. for now, she can try to make herself useful in another manner entirely. ]
if you're missing someone, i can help you look. i don't mind.
