so i don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it looks like there's a definite trend of people going back into stasis without any warning
a few people i knew from back home woke up and just ended up... disappearing out of nowhere and returning back to their pods on the station
has anyone else had something like that happen to them?
maybe it's just me and i'm cursed with bad luck or something
an explanation for WHY it happens would be nice, too
not that i think it's going to make anyone worry less
i haven't had the chance to talk to darma about it, but maybe someone else has
[ not that clary is entirely certain she would trust darma's reasoning at this point, but... well, it's worth a shot. ]
uh, on a lighter note
i realize we already have a makeshift fight club in the works, but i'm looking for regular sparring partners
preferably someone who can't actually throw me through a wall and doesn't want to repeatedly punch me in the face, but i'm not picky
i figure it can't hurt to add a few new things to my skill set

no subject
i hope so, too. for your sake and theirs.
no subject
i'm definitely not going to let them out of my sight once they actually are back on their feet.
[ once, not if. she's determined not to think of it in any way that isn't optimistic, no matter how weary as she feels. ]
no subject
i'd hate it if the one person from my world just disappeared again and it sounds like you were close to the ones who did
no subject
it's crazy to think some people don't even have that, so i'm counting all of us that do lucky
[ even if it's still painful to have that comfort of so many people from home only to have them torn away, but she decides to keep that tidbit to herself. ]
i was close with them
they were like family, really
thankfully i've met a few good people here, but as much as i like them it's not really the same
no subject
for everyone. we weren't the only ones saved, after all
no, i guess it isn't. different backgrounds, and you've only known them for two months
if that
no subject
or someones
someone/someones special
[ like her friends are to her. hearing others speak of those they care about is a pleasant enough distraction from that, and clary is genuinely curious. ]
sorry if that's weirdly personal
and good point
i'm not complaining about the people i got stuck with, though
i didn't have a lot of time for socializing back home, so at least it's a little exciting
no subject
i guess all of us are hoping the people we care about the most will wake up
or the people we think can do the most good here
[ if the general were awake, maybe she'd have some idea as to what he's supposed to be doing now that there is no more resistance
or maybe she'd be just as lost as he feels when he lets himself think about this ]
and i don't mind personal
no subject
or maybe i just missed some of the bad eggs
either way, there were a lot of us to begin with
so it stands to reason a lot of people will join us
[ whether it means the ones she wants to join them will suddenly spring from their pods is another story. it's selfish to think in that manner when so many others can contribute, when she's glad even strangers have the opportunity to flourish here, but that can't be helped. ]
that's good to know, at least
i don't want to assume everyone here is the sharing type and get punched for asking something personal
no subject
but there was the whole murder talk on the network i guess
[ which — he can kind of get, too. ]
i hope the society here can handle that many newcomers without conflict
no subject
colorful
[ well, that's one word for it. ]
okay, it was more than just colorful
but every side had some good points
except for the small group of people who seem like they treat killing someone like it's on par with brushing your teeth
[ or taking out the trash, more aptly. she can sympathize with the concern of others, with the resentment and the bitterness, given the disgust that had curled in her gut once she had stumbled across valentine's pod. what she can't comprehend is the apathy of some, the easy nonchalant attitude toward murder. ]
they might
or they might not, but we have good people on the guard
i trust them to try to keep this place from falling apart completely
no subject
and i can't say i don't get some of the arguments, but yeah
it never should be a first step, i think
[ a last resort? yes. poe has killed, but rarely in cold blood or someone unarmed, hardly outside of the heat of battle. he knows the resistance has blood on its hands, too, perhaps even innocent blood.
they all carry the weight of it, of doing things in the name of the greater good. the things they do are never as bad as those the first order does; it helps poe sleep at night to know that. ]
you're a member of the guard?
i thought about joining before koralle offered me a job
what's it like?
no subject
not everyone agrees with that, but that's the way it should be
[ in self-defense or defense of others, too, but that feels implied without explicitly saying as much. it's an idealistic thought, clary knows, and she's been called as much before. that doesn't mean she's abandoned her ideals, not in the least; if anything, it's made her that much more committed. ]
let me guess: she hit on you, too?
[ she's heard some stories about koralle, at least, and to say she's amused as she is incredulous would be an understatement. ]
ashti seems like she has a good head on her shoulders
it's nice, surprisingly
or... not nice, but you know what i meant
i feel like i'm actually doing something to help the people here, and that's what's important
no subject
[ poe is a fighter pilot, and yet he thinks that there must be better ways. ]
she absolutely did
apparently she likes my face
which is a good thing because otherwise who knows if i would have gotten this job, i don't know half the liquors of this galaxy
[ helping people, though. that sounds good. ]
what kinds of missions do you get?
no subject
she's supposed to be a connoisseur of good taste so she probably has a point about your face
hey, most people can't say they got their jobs here because of a pretty face. wear it proudly
though i honestly only know maybe one or two? they taste similar to some of the stuff back home, so it's been an adventure
patrols, mostly, but my first mission was catching some shapeshifter that kept mugging people over in the nobles district
it's definitely not a boring job
no subject
i've seen worse
i'm still not sure my face qualifies me for the job, but i'm not complaining
a shapeshifter?
no subject
a nice face might distract from accidentally poisoning your customers
[ text is never an amazing avenue for sharing a joke, but she hopes that much conveys itself without her having to clarify it's meant to be harmless. ]
right, sorry, i keep forgetting not everyone is from the same world
shapeshifters can change their faces whenever they want, basically
no subject
at least as far as i know
[ ;) ]
just their faces?
no subject
remind me not to buy any drinks from you
[ the red light district, as jyn had pointed out, isn't quite clary's style, regardless. ]
it depends on the shapeshifter
a lot of them can change everything, but there's usually something that gives them away
in this case, it was his love for stealing shiny things off of people
no subject
[ is he offering her free drinks? he may be. ]
that sounds impressive
not his personality and morals but the ability
no subject
[ she has the decency to ask before assuming as much, at least. ]
it is impressive
might be a little less impressive if they start wearing your face, though
no subject
still impressive
just also really awkward and unpleasant
no subject
i'll have to take you up on that offer, then
unless you're a narcissist that just enjoys looking at your own face, even when someone else is wearing it
but you don't sound like one
no subject
and no, i have a mirror for that [ joking!! ]
no subject
and no, i have a mirror for that [ joking!! ]
no subject
but you'll have to settle for me instead
[ in the arena of playful joking — ]
yeah, but a mirror can't talk back and flatter you
