so i don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it looks like there's a definite trend of people going back into stasis without any warning
a few people i knew from back home woke up and just ended up... disappearing out of nowhere and returning back to their pods on the station
has anyone else had something like that happen to them?
maybe it's just me and i'm cursed with bad luck or something
an explanation for WHY it happens would be nice, too
not that i think it's going to make anyone worry less
i haven't had the chance to talk to darma about it, but maybe someone else has
[ not that clary is entirely certain she would trust darma's reasoning at this point, but... well, it's worth a shot. ]
uh, on a lighter note
i realize we already have a makeshift fight club in the works, but i'm looking for regular sparring partners
preferably someone who can't actually throw me through a wall and doesn't want to repeatedly punch me in the face, but i'm not picky
i figure it can't hurt to add a few new things to my skill set

[ being punched in the face and punching someone in the face? that's a language dutch understands. and few people her age are quite as experienced as dutch is, because few people became assassins before the age of ten. it's not a bad thing, being less experienced. (but it will get you punched in the face.) ]
hand to hand, knives, whatever you're into
we'll see if you can land a punch

i mean, i don't judge.
[ that confidence — overconfidence, some might say, but clary's learned that the people most assured in their talents do tend to be the most dangerous — of dutch's reminds her of jace, a brief moment of nostalgia clary works to ignore. this is likely the part where she should mention she's not entirely human, but if dutch is as skilled as clary is assuming from words alone, enhanced senses will only leave them on equal footing. a fair exchange, truly. ]
i'm more of a kicker than a puncher.
knives, short swords and staves are what i'm most comfortable with if we're including weapons
but hand to hand is probably a safer bet for everyone involved.

[ everyone judges, at least a little, or so dutch figures. she certainly judges people all the time. ]
kicking works, as does hand to hand. so you're on
when?

unless the situation calls for not keeping it to myself.
[ she had certainly judged the institute and the clave for their proclivities, just as harshly as she had criticized their traditions and expectations. that's a far cry from silently judging someone's preference for being thrown through a wall; if anything, that admission would merit more incredulity than criticism. ]
i usually works night until early morning
so anytime before or after that works for me if it works for you.

[ unseen, dutch shrugs. ]
tomorrow afternoon it is

[ that's a joke. well, mostly, but she knows her fair share of judgmental people who have difficulty keeping quiet. ]
sounds good. i'll meet you at the dojo they have here?
no subject
[ though really, dutch doesn't have anyone specific in mind. ]
i'll be there at 3

it's sort of hard to miss.
[ assuming clary gets there first — and she just might, considering her job with the guard is the only activity occupying her aside from trying to throw herself back into art. either way, even in a small crowd like the dojo tends to attract, fire-red tends to stand out. at least it'll give dutch some forewarning of what to search for. ]
