Hello. John Watson here.

I've met some of you already but for the rest I'd like to introduce myself as a doctor. I'm from Earth, 2012, I'm a fully qualified surgeon as of that year and familiar with medicine from that time period. If you'd rather not go to Lysa, please get in contact if you ever need medical attention. For the time being I'll be treating anyone for serious problems at the Station, but in the event of an emergency or something minor I can come to you.

Those of you I treated the other night, if you could check in that would be great.

Such magic only brings ruin. To trust it blindly would do the same.

I've met another healer in the field who uses more practical methods.

It did seem to do as much harm as good. I don't know that the speed of the patch up was worth the side-effects. A bit of scepticism is a healthy stance here

I found that potion to be nothing short of barbaric. When it comes to magic, I refuse to put any stock at all in it.

Lysa's methods work for what these people know, even if the side effects leave much to be desired. Can we really be so disapproving when she's using what she can and what she's learned to, hopefully, the best of her ability? At least, I would like to think she is. I'm sure she would be happy to learn of better methods should we gain her trust and her ear.

Where I am from, we usually use potions and elixirs similar to that as well.

I am also capable of healing through magic, though my ways are painless and without side-effect.

I think there is much we could all learn from each other. At least, that is my hope.

I understand that and I'm all for learning more about it, it's just difficult for me to imagine a world where nobody ever learned to pick up a needle and thread to put people back together instead of burning them up from the inside. Especially with Darma and co sitting upstairs watching it happen.

You're right though, there's nothing inherently wrong with using magic to heal (if it is healing and not causing extra damage) and collaboration sounds like a plan.

[ and as little as he's really ready to start actually having to acknowledge that magic is a thing beyond accepting it a most basic premise... well, they're here now. may as well start somewhere. ]

Unfortunately, I've not seen much in regards to Lysa's medicine, other than some minor side effects. Their magic is rather competent, otherwise.

Practical. In my case, my main experience is in trauma medicine, but I'm qualified as both surgeon and GP.

If you're more accustomed to this world's approach, 2012 Earth relies more on hands, heads, tools and science than swallowing a bottle of something and hey presto.

Too bad we didn't know about you sooner. Her medical help was like something you'd find out of a back alley doctor. I'm pretty sure we all unwittingly walked into a really creepy medical experiment.

I don't, no. Lysa's your best bet for that, if potions are what you're used to.

from what i have seen of her methods, they aren't something i'm familiar with but it seems like it has a lot of side effects with the treatments that didn't seem worth it. [it felt like it was doing more harm than good with how much it was making people suffer in addition on top of their injuries even if they eventually recovered ]

Yeah, I agree. I think most of us with a similar understanding of what medicine is are feeling the same way.

We're going to start testing some of the potions soon. Do you want me to keep you posted on what we find?
