Hello. John Watson here.

I've met some of you already but for the rest I'd like to introduce myself as a doctor. I'm from Earth, 2012, I'm a fully qualified surgeon as of that year and familiar with medicine from that time period. If you'd rather not go to Lysa, please get in contact if you ever need medical attention. For the time being I'll be treating anyone for serious problems at the Station, but in the event of an emergency or something minor I can come to you.

Those of you I treated the other night, if you could check in that would be great.

I can understand that. I'm sorry, I might have come across a little defensive without meaning to. I suppose Darma and them feel they can't directly interfere? Perhaps that's part of the reason they're using us as well.

I'd love to learn more. I know about potions and elixirs, but it's hardly useful here when the plants are completely different. I also know about other types of basic first aid, but if there's ever an instance where my magic fails me, it'd be useful to know more. I don't think one can ever learn too much when it comes to healing others.

I'm only sorry my healing cannot be so easily taught. Or taught at all.

That's alright. Even a couple of lessons in the theory of it would be something. Or a show of how your magic works. Where I come from magic's fiction so it's going to take me some time to get used to it. I'll need all the help I can get.

Oh, although, that would require someone being injured, and I wouldn't want to wish for that...

But it's a little strange to hear that magic doesn't exist where you're from. I suppose your planet was more reliant on technology?

That's alright, we'll wait for the inevitable. I've got a cut on my leg that's currently stitched up and healing if that's a start.

Technology yeah. We're closer to up there on the ship than down here on this planet, though nowhere near to that level. Somewhere in between.

That would work, I could heal that for you. You said you were back on the Station?

it sounds fascinating. Most of the technology we had was lost to the people of my world. [World...Planet...Whatever.] Or was turned against us, I'm afraid. Overall, however, we're closer to the people on this planet. The Station and everything is wonderful and amazing, but a little overwhelming. Fascinating, but it goes a little over my head on how it all works.

No at the moment no, I'm down on the planet. Are you?

A lot of the stuff up there's beyond me too even if it's not quite as unfamiliar as some of the things down here, but I've got all the time in the world now to level that out.

It's a little exciting, isn't it? If there's something positive anyone could say about all of this, it's the opportunity to meet so many new, different people and learn so many new things.

I'll be honest with you and say it might take me some getting used to. Apologies in advance for any strange behaviour, I'll do my best not to be disrespectful but in the event that I am don't feel obliged to be polite. [ giving prior warning seems like a fair approach. he's seen enough in the last couple of weeks to assume he's probably ready for anything, but who knows. ]

That said and if you're still alright with meeting me, tomorrow? I don't think my current state is fit for meeting royalty.

I appreciate the honesty, at least. So long as you don't attack me, I see no reason to be upset. And I'll be glad to try and answer any questions you might have. It's only through asking these questions that one can gain understanding. Battle ignorance with knowledge, sort of thing.

Tomorrow will work fine. But please don't feel the need to be formal. Our homes are gone--I'm hardly the princess of anything anymore. We're all on equal ground now.

I haven't been able to explore overly much yet. Are you able to get around fine with that cut? I could always just come to you. Or we could meet near the markets? That seems the next easiest place to get to.

I am, it's not terrible. The markets works alright for me, if you're comfortable with this meeting being public.

Truthfully I was just thinking about your comfort. I thought it might be better to meet some place public, so that you know I'm trustworthy first.

The actual healing doesn't have to be in public. [She wasn't even thinking of the locals and their reactions; again she's more concerned about his comfort and boundaries]

[ oh. right. as a 38 year old white man, the thought that he might need to be careful going into this situation hadn't really occurred to him as something to worry about

... and honestly, even having been pointed out, still doesn't. (dear john: this is why multiple people succeed in effortlessly kidnapping you). ]

I'm fine if you just want to meet straight in housing. Save the extra trip.

[Mipha's confident enough in her own fighting skills that even if this was going to turn into a bad idea, she's reasonably sure she could get herself out of it. So she sees nothing wrong with accepting this proposal too]
