[Video] Seeking skilled mechanic - UN: Crusaser08

[The message opens up to a rather large older man. He sits in some living room in the housing district. Behind him sits a very very large suit of armor. It's clearly seen much better days. In fact, it looks like it's being held together by duct tape and gum..and is that a hubcap welded in to patch it? Probably.

He looks very serious as he starts his message.]

Hallo. I am Reinhardt Wilhelm. And I am in need of a person with mechanical know-how. As you see, my armor has seen many battles and if it comes to it, I would like to ensure that it sees many more. The young lady who helped me maintain it in the past...my squire...she... well, she's still asleep. Which means that I am short a valuable person.

I would like to take on a squire. A person that can help me maintain my armor. Fix it when I break it and assist in fixing me when I break me. They must have both skill in forging, metallurgy, repairs as well as know some electronics and a small bit of rocket science. [ Yep. Still totally serious about that too ] My biggest requirement is that whoever helps me with my armor has a heart that loves justice and a willingness to help the people for little or no monetary rewards.

[ In a couple hours, Reinhardt will have moved his armor from the corner of the room into the center of it. He has to move the couches and stuff. He'll also have set up some refreshments because damn it, he's a good host! Then he has to wait and hope that this man will give the poor beat up J08 a stamp of functionality. ]

[ It's a grander welcome than Rhys has become accustomed to receiving the last four years of his life, that's for sure. Sometimes meetings would have coffee and donuts sure, but having someone actually go out of their way to provide who wasn't getting paid for it? Almost never. This is the fancy stuff right here, and Rhys looks pleasantly surprised by it when he comes a'knocking. ]

[ It's just Reinhardt's way to go all out for other people. Even ones he has only met over the network. So he'll welcome Rhys in his house and leads into the living area where his armor is.]

Welcome. I have snacks if you want before you go looking at my gear if you want.

Whoa, wait really? You didn't have to go to the trouble... Not that I;m saying no of course. What do you have?

[ Look at that, humble and accepting all at the same time. Nailed it. ]

[ Reinhardt goes around to plop out little plates of what he thinks of as snacks. It's mostly very German in tradition. Pretzels. Cheese. Summer Sausages. But there are also some nuts and fruits and sweet things. He didn't know what this man might like. ] I think I also have tea and whatever this place considers coffee. I know I couldn't pay you for looking at it, so I thought at least I could do this much. If it's not enough, I think I have rabbit that I'll be making into stew tonight. If you wished to stay that long.

[ Because Reinhardt considers payment in food payment. ]

[ At this point, not having expected to get paid at all for this? Rhys is more than willing to accept a bunch of free, awesome-looking food as payment. He has zero objections to this arrangement and probably looks as such as his eyes rakemover the platters of food and snacks a little more greedily than he’d care to admit. ]

—You made stew too? Holy crap. I mean, chyeah i, if you’ve got extra. I’ll make sure that armour of yours is in top-top shape.

[ As much as he’s able to, anyway. He needs to actually take a look at it first. ]

Ja. I made rabbit stew. Since I don't have a job right now, I thought I could at least make dinner for my housemate. But I tend to make a lot so I'm always willing to share. I'll get you some sort of container so you can bring any of this that you want back to your home with you after we're done here.

[ That said, he goes to the J08 and starts to take it apart, so he can lay all the pieces out on the floor for Rhys. There's a heck of a lot to this armor and most all of it looks like it's seen much better days. ]

[ Well while he does that Rhys will help himself to a few finger pieces of that spread, just to get a snack inside himself before he starts working. It would be a waste to let it all get stale and old right? Right. Going straight for it is a compliment!

And he doesn't dally either, so he figures it evens out. By the time Reinhardt finishes laying out all the pieces Rhys had made his way over to activate his ECHO eye, scanning them. He pulls up his palm display a moment later to magnify whatever readings and schematics he can pull off of them. ]

Huh...reminds me a bit of the old Dahl power suits. In a weirdly advanced way.

[ For a suit that's pushing 30 years old, it's still quite impressive. The German engineers had really put their hearts and souls into this armor. The alloy is something never seen before in the world. The electronics in it seem mostly relegated to the rocket booster in the center of the back and the buckler attached to one arm. The readings for the buckler is Hard Light technology, but mostly the armor is mostly analog. The biggest thing though is that the armor has been repaired. A lot. And with whatever was available. It looks right now like the rockets might be offline. ]

It's made to withstand a lot of punishment, but I've been a bit hard on it. I don't know how the Storm might have messed with it too. I don't know if any of it still works and I don't want to put it on and break it more.

Hmm...yeah the readouts I'm getting from this thing put it in pretty rough shape. I don't think I can do anything about the armour itself? I don't have material for the alloy and technically even if I did I don't have any actual experience making metal.

[ That said-- ]

The rocket boosters and hard light I can look into though. That looks simple enough! Got a screwdriver or anything like that?

[ He sort of deflates a little at that. He suddenly misses Brigitte terribly. And not just because she would fix it, but because she'd also give him an earful about being more careful. He never thought he'd miss his squire's lectures.

Still, he smiles a little and nods]

I have a few things. I'm afraid not much. It comes with a field repair kit. The full kit was back in my van before...well before we were all here.

[ He's not kidding when he says it's not much. There's four tools. A universal screw driver, a universal spanner, a small ball-pein hammer, and an allen wrench. Just enough for quick repairs on the go.] I'm hoping to be able to afford a full shop for it some day.

[ It's not quite the precision tools he's looking for, but it'll do in a pinch. He'll take up the screwdriver and give it a once-over before deciding it's better than nothing. He'll need to grab the set he purchased for himself and come back later for the more delicate work, but at least with this he can pop the panelling and get a better look.

So he sets off to do just that, dragging over the first piece as he takes up a seat on the floor. ]

It's cool, I've got a bunch back at my place for when I need to tweak my arm. I'll do what I can with these and then go grabs those after.

[ If he has time, mind you. He's not sure how long this part will take. ]

[ Reinhardt sits on the other side. He knows a little about fixing it. Not to the amount that Brigitte did. Not the way Torbjorn did. But enough. It would be silly if he couldn't do some sort of small fixes. ]

I really do appreciate this. If you have any questions about it, I'll try and answer them. I'm just really glad someone here knows what they are doing with this sort of thing. I was afraid I might not be able to wear it again.

Hah! well...I may not be one of those R&D guys but I know my way around a bit of cybernetics. Built my own in fact.

[ Rhys sounds especially proud of this accomplishment as he holds up his hand in demonstration. It also serves a purpose though, because a second later he flexes his thumb and index finger and brings up a #D scan model of Reinhardt's armour.

Red tinting indicates pieces in need of repair, or which have otherwise been compromised. ]

Here's how things look so far. It's going to take a bit to restore it, buuuut I'm also not sure how accurate most of these readings are. I'm not exactly familiar with tech this old--no offence. I'm pretty sure I'm from the future compared to most people.

[ He's used to seeing cybernetics. Genji had been nearly fully that and Jesse had had that arm. They had much in the way of such things. He's never seen anything like Rhys' arm though. And definitely not what he did with it.

He's not surprised though, to see just how much of his armor is tented red. He's been very very hard on it. ]

No offence taken. It is over 30 years old. Though from the future? What year? I'm from 2075.

Humans have pretty much spread all over the galaxy by that point. People take their vacations on different planets is pretty standard. before things went south I spent my entire working career on a space station at the edge of the borderlands.

[ WHAT ARE NUMBERS~! ]

That's amazing! [ Because Rhys is really really far into the future! ] I wonder if they had knights in space.

[ Because of course that's what Reinhardt cares about. ] Now I know my armor will be in good hands. Brigitte can sleep in peace knowing someone from the future is looking after it.
