hello everyone ヾ(・ω・o)
my name is ren and i have a couple of questions about house stuff
or finding a place to live in wyver stuff i guess
though if you live somewhere else and want to talk about that then go ahead~

anyway, i was wondering what parts of the city are good for newcomers other than the old city
i know the old city seems to be where it's easiest to get somewhere but it's not really very nice compared to the rest of the city... (T▽T)
and it's been a really long time since i had to find a place to live, and doing it by myself is harder because it means i have to worry about money more... \| ̄ヘ ̄|/

[As someone who's been pretty well off his entire life, the "having to worry about money" angle is probably the newest part of all this to Ren.]

i haven't been here very long so i thought it might be best to get advice from people who've been here longer~
since a lot of you seem to have been here a pretty long time
so i'd really appreciate anyone's help! ҉*\( ‘ω’ )/*҉

Suck it up buttercup and get a cheap apartment in the Old City. At least until you get yourself a nice cushy job to afford a better place.

At least that way you'll have a roof over your head.

[Hi Ren.]

... You're still using that nickname, are you?

[Oy. Quit it.

But yeah... Yeah it's him.

Hi.
]

Anyway you say that, but you've only been here for what? Two months now? What job could you have possibly acquired in such a short time that would have you live someplace any better than that?

[personal profile] smithandwesson 2018-09-29 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hmn.. Maybe. But mainly if you had a roommate or something to share it with.

Not that I could imagine it would be easy to find one what with your charmingly difficult personality.

[Not that he's one to talk.]

But I suppose miracles happen from time to time.

... Un-huh.

[He's not even going to dignify that reaction with a real response.]

You're probably best off.

Have you considered living in a ditch somewhere? It feels like an adequate setting and you'd be among those of similar minds. Rents pretty cheap too.
smithandwesson: (... Hey. You're the one that kept callin)

[personal profile] smithandwesson 2018-10-09 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I hear certain trash receptacles make wonderful accommodations against the elements. Knowing you you'd probably even be able to make it homey.

[A perfect setting really.]

If you pull the right strings you may even be able to grab one in the fancy part of town.
smithandwesson: (Don't lie to me. I heard you calling me)

[personal profile] smithandwesson 2018-10-09 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no. But I definitely think I have a spare one I can loan you if you have that much trouble finding a place.

Considerate it the generosity of a devout man. (◕‿◕✿)
smithandwesson: (I'll take you with me. Since I don't see)

[personal profile] smithandwesson 2018-10-16 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose if you really want to be stuck living on those cold streets with nothing over your head. Sure, fine with me.

Or you could just, you know, deal with living all alone in your poor-persons apartment until you get a decent goddamn job.

I've read it.
And I'm saying that whatever your job is, it's obviously not paying you enough for the lifestyle you want to live.

Also if I were you I'd stick to Nadril over Olympia. Olympia's districts are even more financially secluded then Wyver are. At least in Nadril everyone seems to be living fairly similar lifestyles with barely any financial diversity.

Well, the old city is the easiest for a reason. And even though it looks bad, you get used to it pretty fast.

[…Of course, that depends on your standards for living quarters and given that Riku is currently living in a hovel that is more holes than walls and roof, his standards probably shouldn't be used to gauge anything.]

Though I think, if you are really set on Anywhere But Old City, I think there are a couple of areas in the lower West End that should be affordable if you've got a steady paycheck and maybe a room mate.
