[ This was the first time Reign used the network, and thus the video feed began with a view of himself. He waved at the screen with a polite smile, fangs peeking out slightly. ]

It seems this is a good place to ask for name suggestions, and I've seen a few people do that. I've recently gotten myself a new pet, though strangely hatched from an egg when he's a mammalian creature. Ah, let me introduce him.

[ Reign would disappear from view for a bit, then reemerged with a petite looking giraffe in the palm of his hands. ]

Anyway, other than names, I'm not certain what kind of diet a giraffe should eat. I've been letting him drink milk, which works well, but I don't know if he eats other kind of food. Would grass work? Vegetables, perhaps?

[ The giraffe raised its head, and Reign happily leaned down to let his pet kiss him on the cheek. ]

Aaaah~ Isn't he adorable?

Good grief. I've one of those eggs as well. A giraffe, someone else has a horse . . . I dread to think what might hatch out of mine.

In any case: from what I can recall of giraffes, vegetables ought to work well. You might look up such a creature, though now that I say that, I don't know if this new world even has such creatures. So . . hmm. Why not set out a variety of vegetative options for it? Especially after it's not eaten for a time. Its body will know what it wants.

Oh, I definitely will! I'm sure the institute likely have information about giraffes. [ A hum. ] Excellent suggestion, miss. For now, he seems to be drinking milk only, but I'll try the vegetables later.

[ It didn't help that Reign was a vampire, and hence a carnivore of sorts. But if he thought of his giraffe as a human Art who were mostly vegetarians, that might help him. ]

Say, what kind of animal do you hope to get? If given the choice.

Well. It's likely going to be some kind of wild animal, since I can't imagine it won't follow the obvious trend. But . . . I suppose it would be interesting to have some kind of carnivore. A tiger, perhaps, or something along those lines.

A tiger? A friend of mine has a white tiger cub! Also hatched from an egg. So perhaps you might get lucky and get a carnivore pet.

[ there's the softest thumping noise in the background that is steadily increasing speed as he stares at the tiny giraffe. ]

That's a giraffe? [ he's never seen one before, and both ears twitch as he cocks his head. ] Does it make any noises?

[ Oooh, it's been a while since he'd seen Keaton. Reign could tell just how excited the other was. ]

Indeed he is. It's the first time I've seen a giraffe myself except in books. Oh, hang on.

[ The video shook a bit as Reign walked towards the couch where the tiny giraffe lay, holding the phone up close to his pet. ]

Go ahead, boy. Say something. [ And the giraffe did. A soft cry of some sort. ] Hear that?

[ as soon as the baby giraffe makes that noise, his entire everything immediately shoots straight up. even his ears, as horizontal as they are, try their best to go vertical. ]

That's... is it a cow? It sounds like a cow! [ WHAT IS THIS SORCERY TBH??? ] It might be the tallest... smallest cow I've ever seen?!

[ his face gets closer and closer. ]

You say you feed him milk? Hm. [ idea! ] Open his mouth. Let me see his teeth.

What? NO! He's not a cow. [ Wait, but Keaton might be right? Reign had only seen giraffes in books, but what if this was a special breed of cows that looked like giraffes? ]

But cows don't have such long necks and legs. The horns look different too.

[ Anyway, Reign moved closer to the giraffe and mimicked opening his mouth for the animal to follow. Surprisingly, the giraffe was quick on the uptake, doing as indicated for Keaton to see. ]

So? What about his teeth?

They eat the branches and leaves off of tall leaves and vegetation. I am sure they wouldn't have given him to you if he wasn't possible to feed though.

Hm, you're right. There's no such animal like him in my world, so I've no idea about the diet or care for giraffes. But branches and leaves seem easy enough to obtain.

Isn't he? I didn't think one would exist, much less become a pet of mine. What I've read is that he's a kind of animal called a giraffe. Supposedly one of the tallest animal in some world.

[ Sorry, Mantis, but you kind of reminded Reign a lot of his giraffe now. ]

You're right. He may be the tallest animal, but he's currently a miniature version. I guess the correct term should be the tallest miniature animal! It seems that quite a few people who have received a mysterious egg has these tiny creatures hatched from it.
