I HAVE TWO QUESTIONS FOR ALL "REFUGEES".

HAVE ANY OF YOU EXPERIENCED AN ODD OCCURRENCE WHERE YOU MEET SOMEONE THAT YOU ARE ACQUAINTED WITH, AND THEY RECALL EVENTS FAR DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU? NOT MERELY A LAPSE IN THEIR MEMORY, BUT ENTIRELY DIFFERENT EVENTS, SUCH AS A MAN STILL BEING ALIVE WHEN YOU KNOW HIM TO BE DEAD, OR HEARING THAT YOU MARCHED YOUR WIFE AND CHILD INTO BATTLE WHEN YOU KNOW THAT WOULD BE UTTER FOLLY AND RECALL LEAVING THEM SAFELY UNDER GUARD?

[ he still cannot believe that anyone would do that, least of all a man who seems to share his name, personality, and so many of his memories, yet is very much not him. ]

I WOULD KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR THINGS WITH THOSE THEY KNOW. AS THOUGH THERE WERE TWO VERSIONS OF YOUR WORLD. ONE THAT SOME OF YOU RECALL, AND ONE THAT OTHERS DO.

AND EVEN IF YOU DO NOT, I WOULD ALSO HEAR OF WHAT YOU KNOW OF DRAGONS FROM YOUR OWN WORLD. AS A MEMBER OF THE SIMWE INSTITUTE, ONE OF MY TASKS IS TO STUDYING THEM, AND I WOULD HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY.

Aye, that seems wise. I admit I’ve run into no such phenomenon myself, but I am curious as to what you are able to find out.

As for the dragons, on my home star of Hydaelyn they are a race of intelligent beings, ageless and extremely powerful.

A FEW OTHERS SEEM TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR THINGS, BE IT HERE OR IN THEIR OWN WORLDS. BUT ADDITIONAL CONFIRMATION MIGHT BE DESIRABLE.

CAN THEY COMMUNICATE WITH MEN?

[ now this is something he wants to hear more of. dragons are truly fascinating creatures. ]

Aye, they speak, though I have not had the pleasure to speak with one myself. They have their own language if I am to understand correctly, but I would not be surprised to learn they know the common tongue as well.

THAT IS FASCINATING. THE DRAGONS I HAD BEEN FAMILIAR WITH WERE INTELLIGENT FOR BEASTS, BUT SHOWED NO LEVEL OF REASON, OR SO IT WAS WRITTEN. YOUR REALMS WERE FORTUNATE, INDEED.

Mayhap only on paper. The nation of Ishgard was embroiled in a war with the dragons that spanned over a thousand years, costing heavy losses on both sides and leaving much of Ishgard ravaged.

However, I am not a native of that land, so most of what I know comes only from books and word of mouth. The lady Ysayle would likely be able to tell you more, if you have a desire to know.

I BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS ONE WHO MENTIONED SOMETHING AKIN TO THAT.

ARE SUCH THINGS COMMON IN YOUR ONETIME REALM? WOULD OTHER RACES OFTTIMES GO TO WAR WITH ONE ANOTHER? IT SEEMS THAT LITTLE CHANGES.

I think it may be more difficult to find a world without war, rather than one with, as sad as that sounds. Mine own homeland of Ala Mhigo knew more than its fair share of conflict, as well.

WERE YOU INVOLVED IN ANY WARE YOURSELF?

Aye, that I was. I and my fellow Crimson Duelists, the order of red mages to which I belonged, took up arms alongside the Ala Mhigan resistance to fight against our then-king, Theodoric. It was not for nothing that he was known as the King of Ruin, and it was a hard-won victory.

One that ultimately opened the door for more fighting.
