[It takes a short while for Venom to adjust his device as he turns on the feed. He feels the device itself is cumbersome and wonders why they can't just switch over to magic coms like normal people. A few moments of silence (and Venom's hair eye staring into the camera) later, he begins:]

I suppose I should start with a good afternoon to all of you.

The reason why I've decided to do this is because of the intentions of my former organization. [And the previous talks about murder and murder-related things.] We were dealt a heavy blow by an antagonistic force, someone who felt we were going to interfere with their plans. As the leader, I came to a difficult decision. I felt if we were to survive, we needed to operate in the light of day, to come out of the shadows for good.

What were we, you might ask?

We were assassins.

It's not something I was ever proud of doing, nor do I plan on going back to that profession. My unhappiness was fueled by it, even though I voluntarily took the leadership role. I feel that if I am to continue living in the light, I wish to be open and honest about my past.

Being truthful is admirable enough, but there are times when a little restraint is warranted. [ like telling everyone you used to kill people for a living. not cool. ]

Originally, I was a bit more careful. But I'd rather have all of you know now as opposed to months down the line.

Truly, the guilt that must have plagued you until this moment must have been staggering. Though, you thank others for listening... I thank you for sharing. It is one thing to feel guilt for ones actions and it is another to decide to change oneself from those actions.

How we preceive our past and our sins comes out in what we do in the present. You hated to keep this all secret and the blood upon your hands blameless, for assassins gift no name to their mark's loved ones. They gift only the unknowing. Has that, too, tormented you, I wonder?

Many things have tormented me despite trying to live and lead with no regrets. The loss of my master, almost losing the Guild, and especially the lives I've taken.

Perhaps it's selfish, but all I want here is to put it behind me.

I've touched upon it with others, but not on this grand of a scale. I was rather hesitant to do so, hence why it took me a few months to say something.

There are certain things perhaps we must carry, given the deaths of our worlds. But things of this nature we can let go of, I think.

Please know that you don't have to do such things anymore. Know too that you are not the only person to have come from a past that you have regretted.

I will do everything I can to keep from returning to that life. I've been granted more than one chance, and I now know I need to make it count.

[ She can't really judge unless she knows the intention - murderers are against her beliefs, but she also believes there are those who are deserving of death. The type of person being assassinated really sways her opinion of how to perceive this. ]

Our origins are rather murky, but I believe we were assembled in the late twentieth century to punish those above the law.

[Or to provide a steady blood supply for their founder who just happened to be a vampire.]

Hah. [It's a short, but amused laugh.] The world would be a much better place if more men were as honest as you.

[Estinien was not quick to trust people, but... Well, really, there weren't too many reasons a person might admit something like this. So he feels like it's relatively safe to call him that.]

There is little about our current situation that warrants optimism, yet I suppose it would not be the worst time to start anew.

[Honesty is one of Venom's virtues as he tries not to hide anything from anyone. That and he can rarely bring himself to lie.]

I've endured quite a bit, even before arriving here. I feel it's time to start fresh and walk a new path.

I jest, of course. The one good thing about this place is that it presents an unprecedented opportunity to remake oneself--a fact for which I am similarly grateful.
