[It takes a short while for Venom to adjust his device as he turns on the feed. He feels the device itself is cumbersome and wonders why they can't just switch over to magic coms like normal people. A few moments of silence (and Venom's hair eye staring into the camera) later, he begins:]

I suppose I should start with a good afternoon to all of you.

The reason why I've decided to do this is because of the intentions of my former organization. [And the previous talks about murder and murder-related things.] We were dealt a heavy blow by an antagonistic force, someone who felt we were going to interfere with their plans. As the leader, I came to a difficult decision. I felt if we were to survive, we needed to operate in the light of day, to come out of the shadows for good.

What were we, you might ask?

We were assassins.

It's not something I was ever proud of doing, nor do I plan on going back to that profession. My unhappiness was fueled by it, even though I voluntarily took the leadership role. I feel that if I am to continue living in the light, I wish to be open and honest about my past.

[The feed shuts off as Venom hopes he did the right thing.]

It must have been a very strange guild.

[Well they were founded by a vampire and have ridiculous uniforms, but don't tell Venom that shhh]

It wasn't all that strange. Perhaps a little unorthodox at times, but that's it.

An assassin's guild led by a man who abhors killing.

That's more than simply "unorthodox."

It did change a bit under my leadership, but I retained the core values instilled by previous leaders. We targeted those who were a detriment to society and considered themselves above the law.

So honorable killers.

Can you even be called "assassins"?

Considering we mostly operated by contract, yes. I say we qualified as assassins.

So you abhor killing, but you were willing to do it for money?

I did it because it was my job. I was spared from death by the previous leader because he saw great potential within me. I owed him my life, so I put aside my hatred to focus on my work.

So you took lives only out of obligation to another?

[~~yes.~~]

It's more complicated than that, but my loyalty was absolute at the time.

[That loyalty is still intact... sort of.]

I’m really in no position to judge, but that seems like the pinnacle of foolishness.

It’s no wonder you weren’t cut out for this.

Be that as it may, my Lord was a good man.

[Huff.]

I was still one of their best operatives. I did what I could as leader, but perhaps you're right in that part. I was better off not leading them.

Who knows?

Perhaps a group of assassins benefited from a leader so ill-suited to lead. Better than someone too suited for that position.

The one that was best suited passed on, but then returned without any emotion or most of his memories.

In the end, it's all gone and done. I suppose it's safe to say that I am free.

Then hopefully with his public confession, that's the last of things for you.
