[It takes a short while for Venom to adjust his device as he turns on the feed. He feels the device itself is cumbersome and wonders why they can't just switch over to magic coms like normal people. A few moments of silence (and Venom's hair eye staring into the camera) later, he begins:]

I suppose I should start with a good afternoon to all of you.

The reason why I've decided to do this is because of the intentions of my former organization. [And the previous talks about murder and murder-related things.] We were dealt a heavy blow by an antagonistic force, someone who felt we were going to interfere with their plans. As the leader, I came to a difficult decision. I felt if we were to survive, we needed to operate in the light of day, to come out of the shadows for good.

What were we, you might ask?

We were assassins.

It's not something I was ever proud of doing, nor do I plan on going back to that profession. My unhappiness was fueled by it, even though I voluntarily took the leadership role. I feel that if I am to continue living in the light, I wish to be open and honest about my past.

[The feed shuts off as Venom hopes he did the right thing.]

[It takes him a while to answer...]

Yes. It was the only way for my Guild to have a path towards the light. Someone had to take the fall. Why not their leader?

[godwins]

[ Another pause, and then, full of force: ]

Because that's certifiable, that's why! Even my plans aren't that bad.

[poolhall_killer]

[He's about to ask 'certifiably what' but Bucky's tone says it all.]

I did it because I knew the Guild's sins weren't going to be forgiven that easily, even if we showed what we had done.

[He speaks as though his life has no meaning, that he'll place others above him without question.]

[godwins]

So? Just 'cause you know some people are gonna be stupid, doesn't mean you oughta follow their example!

[poolhall_killer]

It's a bit more complex than that, but I understand what you mean.

[This conversation is starting to remind him of the last one he had with Robo Ky...]

In the end, I just want to put it all behind me and move forward.

[godwins]

Good.

Anyway, seems like half the people here are mass murdering war criminals, or something, and the other hanf ldon't want to talk about it.

I've noticed that, as well.

In a bizarre way, it gives me a bit of comfort knowing I'm not alone. On the other hand, it is rather disconcerting that so many of us have taken lives in the past.

[godwins]

Hey, there's a difference between taking lives and bein' an assassin.

[ He hopes. ]

You're not entirely incorrect.

I believe it's more the intent and reasoning behind taking lives. I greatly dislike killing for little or no reason.

[godwins]

Yeah. But even when it's the best option you got, it doesn't feel too good.

[poolhall_killer]

That I cannot argue. It's a disgusting feeling.

[One he'd rather not experience ever again.]

[godwins]

[ You get used to it, though. But he doesn't say it, not out loud. Bucky's said too much already, he thinks. Instead, he changes tack. ]

You figure we'll get a real shot peace here?

[poolhall_killer]

As of now, I don't know. I want to say yes, honestly.

[Whether or not he deserves it is debatable, in his opinion. But he feels the others deserve a chance, including Bucky here.]

[godwins]

You want to, but you can't. [ An invisible shrug. ] Me neither.

[poolhall_killer]

I want to try, however. We've been through so much already, and I'm sure it's not over. But I want to aim for that peace.

[godwins]

I hope you get it. [ Pause. ] And that you don't start killin' people for money again, 'cause I'm pretty sure I'd have to stop you. [ And from a practical standpoint, he isn't sure how he'd stop cueball magic. ]

[poolhall_killer]

That's something you don't have to worry about. I have no interest in pursuing the assassin's path again.

[godwins]

Seems like a crummy one, if you wanna know the truth.

It is quite "crummy", the more I think about it.
