I'm guessing $ doesn't mean money where you're from?

No. There are varieties of where I'm from, but where I live we use coins in metals. Gold dragons, then silver stags, then copper stars, pennies, half-pennies, and then groats. What do dollars look like?

Dollars are slips of paper that are printed with special designs. The green thing in that emoji's mouth is meant to resemble a dollar, but the real thing looks more complicated. I think the one dollar bill has like a pyramid with an eye on top of it.

Hey, a pocketful of paper currency sounds a heck of a lot easier to carry around than a pocket full of dragons and stags. I guess we do have coins too, but they aren't worth a whole lot.

You do understand that we don't literally carry stags and dragons as currency. That's just the name of the coins.

I'm just saying coins are heavier than paper. Plus they make you jingle everywhere you go and nobody likes a jingler.

I suppose you are right about that. I just never thought to use paper as currency. And many people like the sound of gold and silver clinking together.

Things that were needed or wanted. Weapons, food, supplies, that sort.

Smuggler, not a pirate. And no. That's a reference to my last smuggling, where I smuggled onions and fish to a starving garrison in a besieged castle. It's where I earned my knighthood.
