[ so... Garrus likes poking around the network. he likes it a lot. but it's the first time that he's actually... really gone through with the effort to make a post on on it. might as well start with the small talk. ]

so, i've been up for a while and i can't help but notice something.

there's a lot of humans around here. a lot of humans that are awake, and not so many of any other species. take me, for example. back home, as amazing as i am, i'm only one example out of billions of turians. here, i'm the only one.

if you ask me, it's a little strange.

does anyone have a good, sound, scientific explanation for this? like humans are more storm-proof, or something? and how many of you guys are the only ones of your species that are around? are you used to it? do you find it weird that the locals don't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary?

all i'm saying is there's a lot of questions.

[ oh, and for good measure... ]

and, if any of you orbiters are hanging out around here, you're also welcome to answer!

I am sorry to hear your people are so disadvantaged, sir.

[ Here she is, with impossibly! genuine! sentiment. It's a little gross, honestly. Try not to get any on you, Garrus.

She's also struggling a bit with the texting, so after several seconds of typing... ]

Perhaps if you told me a little more about Turians, I could appeal to the Natha on their behalf.

I noticed that as well. It's astounding, humans and humanoids are the minority in so much of the universe, yet they scrabble their way to the top of nearly every food chain. We're either impressive or tyrannical, depending on who you ask. I'm bound to say the latter. We're certainly not storm-proof - we're actually pretty breakable, most of us.

I think the sound, scientific explanation is probably that the Natha have a bias. I'm sorry, Garrus. You deserve to have more of your people here.

[ texting is really not percy's favorite form of communication, so it's voice from this one. ]

Yeah, I was wondering about that too, [ he says thoughtfully.

not that he misses the seemingly endless supply of monsters from his version of earth, but it does seem a little weird that he hadn't met any, he doesn't know, satyrs or centaurs or harpies or immortals. he hasn't even run into any other half-bloods. ]

I'm all out of scientific explanations, though. But -- I'm with you, it's weird.

[ he also wants to ask what a turian is...but that seems rude... ]

If I had to take a blind crack at a 'scientific' explanation I'd guess atmosphere. Climate, gravity, radiation, the makeup of what we're breathing, all seem consistent with ideal conditions on the human homeworld (at least where I'm from). The intent could be to safeguard from potential dangers, but knowing how many different beings can function just fine (or better than humans) in an M-class enviro, it doesn't quite scan past 'good' or 'sound'. Alternate idea: bias?

+ In case it's not obvious, I'm used to a lot more non-humans being around, too.
