How come I have to have a "silver turd" and a "blind dude" as roommates? They both suck!
Who came up with this idea? This is stupid.

Might kick them out. They're too noisy.

Does anyone even like their roommates? Mine are annoying. Let's do a trade.

[ And there, it goes too far. Robb sits back for a moment, thinking of all he'd done as they grew up together to treat Theon as his own brother. Watching Ned do much the same, entrusting him with roles not even Jon was permitted to fill. And as he'd laid siege toward the South, Theon had been his right arm. ]

I gave you all, Greyjoy. I spilt my blood beside you.
You spat in it, and kept walking.

( Ah. This is getting personal, in public. Do neither of them realize this is a bad thing? )

Should the pair of you have further grievances to air, let us agree on a time and place to meet.
And not reveal all to everyone who would listen.

( It's not like they need to twist her arm to make her act as their queen. )
northborn: (063.)

[personal profile] northborn 2017-07-23 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ No arm twisting, not today. She's not their queen yet. He is still King in the North, albeit dead, and he supports his brother's right to rule after him. Of all they have discussed since finding each other, it's the one thing that makes sense to him. It is a delicate balance to strike, however, in a new world where they all live side by side.

Crowns, after all, are more grievous topics than anything else.
]

Your offer of mediation is appreciated, your grace, and counsel well kept. As for the rotted carcass that was once a friendship between Greyjoy and I, you needn't subject yourself to the discourse. It will remain dead, and, perhaps one day, the dead will no longer walk the long night.

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-07-23 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
This is what my brother Rhaegar would have done had he lived, is it not? I can do no less; and the offer will remain, should you change your mind.

( It may come to pass that she will press the issue if these petty squabbles become too disruptive. She'd not mentioned Viserys, and will pointedly refrain from doing so. His is no example she would follow. )

What is this long night you refer to?
northborn: (006.)

[personal profile] northborn 2017-08-03 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Forgive me - I know not what your brother would have done to intervene in the name of peace. His mark upon our histories as the North knows him was to start a long and bloody war by running away with aunt.

[ Harsh, perhaps, but true enough. They may yet have much to learn from one another, and historical revisions could lay in store. ]

The Winter as you, nor none in the Southern realms, have never known it, Your Grace.
It was upon us not long before The Storm came to take us all.

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-08-03 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
The knights in my service left that part out. How did that happen? Ser Barristan said he'd never known a finer man, and Ser Jorah called him noble. I would like to ask your forgiveness for all the wrong done unto your House by mine.

If I can lend aid to ease things between yourself and Theon Greyjoy, I will. Otherwise, I leave the matter to you.

( Harsh and blunt, but then, she's only ever been told of the whole of her father's exploits. And only recently. Rhaegar's life has been a mystery to her from the first.

As the concept of anything but blisteringly hot days and freezing nights has been. )

I see. What did winter in our homeland entail?

shhh i didn't notice

[ That one hits him where it hurts. If he weren't such a prideful man, he'd shut this entire conversation down, perhaps beg for forgiveness in any way possible, but he won't allow himself to do that. What's done is done. He knows he betrayed Robb, and he knows there is no apologizing. ]

You know where I sleep should you wish to do your duty. Nothing's stopping you from passing the sentence and swinging the sword. It's what your father would wish.

After all, you've already said it yourself, Stark. I was never your family.

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-07-23 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
There will be no executions here. ( Unless she's authorized it. ) Leave it be for now, my lord.

Both of you have a duty to carry on in this place where our people cannot. We are all that remains. To lose sight of what that means would be foolish.

lmao thank you for all this

As it stands, your grace, you rule nothing. What transpired between Robb Stark and I concerns only himself, his family and his bannermen, and it has not yet been resolved. This is his sentence to pass, not yours.

[ Theon understands her meaning, and he doesn't want to die, but he knows what his treachery would have earned him in the North. This is Robb's decision by right, and he'll allow only Robb to decide what should become of him. ]

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-07-24 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Only by fault of the Storm. I have heard of Robb Stark before, a little. But if you wish to discuss that further, for his sake I'd insist on it being conducted in private.

I don't know what you've done, only that it must be grave for you to offer your life. We spit on the memory of all those who have perished if we die here so soon. So you will not.

( She will insist here, because she was prepared to work with people she'd not necessarily liked or trusted (Varys) to restore peace to their homeland. It will take some time and an accord before she might ever recognize either of them as her equal. )

If you expected the Storm to pass and all of Westeros to bend its knee to you, you were living a child's fantasy.

[ It's okay, though, because he was too. ]

I do not offer my life. I only offer Robb the opportunity to do his duty.

You're right, as you have seldom been in your life, Greyjoy. I am my father's son.

[ Let him sweat over that for a minute, perhaps two, before he sends another message. It is difficult, corresponding like this — ravens gave oneself time to compose one's thoughts. To truly drive a sword in, deep and concise. This exchange has been a detriment to them both, but mostly to Robb — it is not only upon himself which he brings shame and the threat of danger. There is Sansa to think of, and Jon.

He catches flashes of them, growing up together. In the midst and at the edges, solid but blurry: Theon.
Their not-brother, smiling too fiercely.
]

I suppose we have that in common, in the end.

[ The truth is only half so, but it burns well enough. He lets the flames go. ]

Aye, and your mother’s son. I believe she would love nothing more than to see this sentence carried out as well.

[ Theon doesn’t truly want to die, but his offer is an attempt to give something to Robb in the midst of this mess. He can’t beg for forgiveness; surely there’s none to give. He can’t return Winterfell or its people, or even now force himself to choose between his own family and the Starks. Worst of all, he can’t place himself back at Robb’s side to warn him of Roose Bolton’s intentions, and that eats him up more than anything else.

I should have been the one who died, he thinks as he dwells on his next response. Not Robb.
]

I’m a Greyjoy. It’s all I ever could be.

[ Though he wishes it were easier than that. ]

There was a time I wanted nothing more than your head upon a pike.

[ He pauses, considering. The bitter gears in his mind turn, then settle. ]

Now you all but beg for it, as if it would relieve you of your own suffering, such as you believe it to be.

I will not accommodate you here, Theon Greyjoy. Even if it should give all of House Stark great satisfaction.

As long as I have air in my lungs, you will feel no relief.

[personal profile] reek 2017-08-19 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
You're frightened.

[ A quick and sudden accusation, but is it really completely unfounded? Robb isn't completely wrong; Theon would love to be spared his own suffering. Guilt creeps into every thought and every breath he takes, and he can't shake an ounce of it from his shoulders, but he doesn't make this offer out of that type of selfishness. He offers because he feels it's the right thing to do. It's what Robb would have wanted, if things had turned out differently. ]

This isn't about me. You can't bring yourself to do it, not even when I've offered it to you on a silver platter. What's changed so suddenly?

[ it is hard, to agree with two rulers at once — she is on Robb's side in this as she is in everything, yet the dragon queen speaks true. it is dangerous, to speak too much of private matters where others may see it, and may use the knowledge to their advantage. ]

He is not worth the effort, Robb. The time of a king is precious, and yours would surely be better spent elsewhere than trying to reason with a traitor.

You hadn't even learned to walk when I came to Winterfell. I know the ways of the North as much as you do. Robb decides what is worth his effort. You and a queen who has never even seen her homeland do not.

I made no mention of your knowledge of the ways of the North. Only a fool imagines slights when there are none.

[ He is too! He just has a different way of going about it.

Her words do sting, though. Jon aside, Sansa was the Stark child who was always seemed the most distant from him. Their paths seldom crossed, they rarely spoke, and Then can think of no memories they’ve shared together. There was a time when Robb considered him to be as close as a brother, but he knows that the others never felt the same.

Whatever he did or did not do... Robb, this is not the place to talk about it. We are all that is left of House Stark, is this how we want others to see us? Talking of matters that are no one else's to know, openly like this?

He is not truly alone, Sansa. He has his kin; I have seen her from a distance. She may prove worrisome for our family.

But you're right, of course. How did my young sister grow so wise despite her short years? I have not made the proper time to the hear the songs you would sing... or the songs the southern beasts forced upon you.

[ He doesn't mean for her to enlighten him, now. Not at all. He only laments his foolishness, and their collective wounds. ]
