Only the Dalish elves and those of the ancient elves bear these marks. It's to honour our gods. So, it's not exactly for good looks or personal aesthetic. They have deep personal value to each elf who receives them.

Each pattern represents a different deity in our culture, yes. Mine represents that of Mythal; the protector and All-Mother. Patron of love, motherhood and Justice.

Though I never really ask for her to leave my foes in agony or to smite them. [ He usually has to do that part. ]

Leaving them in agony? That's...a little much, ain't it? I mean, I know a couple people I wouldn't be against givin' 'em a major beatdown, but agony's harsh, ain't it?
And Twitter is a social network system. You post up online and anyone can see it and message you back under 120 characters. Great way to chat with strangers.

I don't believe it means leaving them in physical agony. I think it's more...well how do I phrase it...
Lets say there is a King who is cruel and is wicked to his subjects for he thinks they're lesser. Calling upon Mythal to bring justice and leave that king in agony may mean casting him down from his throne. Leaving him in ruin and putting him on the same level as the subjects he mistreated. [ However, he does give a shrug. ]
At least, that's how I take it. A mother would do anything to protect her children and so Mythal is the representation of that, smiting the wicked who would harm the innocent.
[ However there is just the longest of stares at the explaination of twitter. ]

That...definitely sounds like a very big network. To cover an entire world, I'm not even sure our messenger Ravens could do that.

And yeah, it's electronic or something, so no birds required. Makes it easy and fast. You can get information as quick as it's made. A lot more convenient than the dark ages.

Sometimes they got some real crap out there though, so you gotta be careful what you read and trust online. Anyone can put stuff up there, and there ain't a lot of vettin' the submissions.

In a sense. We merely have books and word of mouth to keep history and well, if disaster strikes it is often lost.
And there has been a lot of stories and history that has been lost to such things where I come from.
