[ He's done his reading. He's lurked around the Red Light district for answers. 9S has seen a lot recently, but he still doesn't know. It's an itch in his mind waiting for a good scratch, but observation and research hasn't quite done the trick. He's got the basics down, he thinks, but it still seems a little too personal to test the waters himself. Being physical with someone like that? He may as well give a stranger his personal decryption codes. He's made friends here and most people aren't so bad, but the vulnerability still bothers him.

9S is more than a little exasperated with wondering. The world, especially a new one like this, is full of so much else yet there's so much focus on that one activity. ]

Why are humans so obsessed with sex? Aren't there more interesting things to do?

[ Phrasing it like that might ease the "why are you so weird?" "i'm an android" part of a conversation, he thinks, but 9S realizes it's strange enough that people will be confused regardless. This was a terrible idea. Where's the delete function on this thing, anyway?

At least it's not war, I guess.

What did she tell me? No more than what you have told me about your world, which is how I was able to pick up what you were saying as being familiar to a story I had just heard. You both are androids. You were programmed by humans to protect humanity and fight wars on the planet. You've never met any of the humans that you were programmed to protect. Also, some of the robots that exist on the planet are rather odd... like some pretending to be priests. I'm not sure how I feel about an ordained robot priest, but here we are.

[ He's curious, since he knows quite a bit that A2 doesn't remember. But as he sees it, to take care of humans means also to keep them that future. Who would want to think that they came from a world that turned into that?

But since that's all he mentioned, it's likely A2 hasn't said anything noteworthy about him. Their relationship is complicated. ]

Yeah, a lot of the machines were really weird - the priests especially. Definitely weirder than the ones that set up a kingdom.

They kept talking about dying together and how they would "become as gods". I'm not sure how death makes you become a god, but they were trying to kill anything they came in contact with.

The ones in the kingdom did the same, but they weren't turning on their own.

It would seem they misinterpreted what they were reading. A common mistake. [ Also pretty nonchalant. ]
