[ He's done his reading. He's lurked around the Red Light district for answers. 9S has seen a lot recently, but he still doesn't know. It's an itch in his mind waiting for a good scratch, but observation and research hasn't quite done the trick. He's got the basics down, he thinks, but it still seems a little too personal to test the waters himself. Being physical with someone like that? He may as well give a stranger his personal decryption codes. He's made friends here and most people aren't so bad, but the vulnerability still bothers him.

9S is more than a little exasperated with wondering. The world, especially a new one like this, is full of so much else yet there's so much focus on that one activity. ]

Why are humans so obsessed with sex? Aren't there more interesting things to do?

[ Phrasing it like that might ease the "why are you so weird?" "i'm an android" part of a conversation, he thinks, but 9S realizes it's strange enough that people will be confused regardless. This was a terrible idea. Where's the delete function on this thing, anyway?

Sigh.]

At least it's not war, I guess.

The fun factor comes up quite a lot. And finding the right person.

[ He's quiet on the latter. Girls? Dudes? Something else? He's fascinated by everything humanoid, so preference isn't yet an issue. The feelings described though - all weird inside and understanding - it's vague but it clicks with 9S pretty quickly. He's always wanted that, especially from 2B. He'd love to find someone who makes him feel like he did when they were working together. Could there be anyone else like that out there?

9S chuckles a bit at the second part. ]

Yeah, war is the worst. Where I came from there was a lot of war, so the difference here is pretty striking.

I mean, it's pretty important? Life's too short to be stuck doing boring shit forever.

[Plus he has 0 patience for boring things, so he prefers to live his life free like a bird as much as possible.]

But seriously? Ugh, that sucks. I'm sorry, man. What's up with that? I mean, I guess there were wars goin' on back on Earth, too... But it wasn't like it ever affected me. Japan was pretty damn peaceful most of the time.

But a lot of things aren't boring!

[ Learning about humans is fun and 9S is prepared to do it for a long time.

He pauses though, not wanting to point out that he came from Earth too. ]

The aliens started it. They were pushed back, so they created machine lifeforms to take over the world. We fought to keep our world, but it was up to the 14th Machine War by the time the Storm hit.

[ He doesn't miss it. ]

Holy crap - so not just aliens, but machines, too?

[Wait, this sounds familiar. He squints at the screen for a second, but since he can't tell much about a person from a voice, he lets it go for now.]

So what's not boring to you? I mean, I thought my life was pretty boring mostly - just a lot of going to school and doing homework and stuff.

Yeah! I didn't see too much of the aliens, but the machines were bad enough.

[ He pauses to think on that for a moment. ]

A lot of things aren't boring right now. I like learning about things, and there's so much around here that I've never really thought about before. It's not like war is ever boring, but there's so much more to life than that. Some of it makes more sense than others.

[ Hence the outburst. ]

...Well, I guess if war's all you've known then yeah, regular stuff won't be boring. Like the sex thing. That's never boring though, really. Unless you can't get it, then it's kinda frustrating.

So? Now that you ain't fighting a war against aliens and machines - what've you been doing? Going to school?
