[ lily potter has had something of a jarring entrance into el nysa, and has remained relatively quiet since her arrival. she's spent most of the time with her ragtag family in some sort of attempt to parse through everything that had happened. and, honestly -- lily hasn't managed to do that. she isn't entirely sure whether or not she could ever do that.

but sitting around and doing nothing is also definitely not her style. she needs to be proactive, to find her spot in this new world. get information, learn how to adapt and survive, and try to get through everything that has happened.

even in times of peace, war is still the predominating factor in how she tries to analyze what in the actual hell has happened.

so lily (a young twenty-something-year-old with a huge amount of red hair and green eyes) presents as tired, but with color in her cheeks and a brightness in her eyes. she's noticed some people have been asking for jobs, and lily knows that she needs to do that eventually, too -- but to introduce herself to her new community of ... well, refugees, lily figured something a little less to-the-point was more appropriate.

information is needed. and in this world, there are so many different people, people who are living openly, that it doesn't seem that magic is so taboo here as it is in the muggle world back home. it's almost refreshing, really, but it also leads lily to a question: ]

This entire world is miraculous, isn't it?

[ literally. figuratively. metaphorically. she's breathing, isn't she? ]

I'm new, here -- I'm sure a lot of other people are going to say the same thing in the coming weeks, and I know people who have been here for longer than I have are probably tired of the questions. [ tough shit is what she wants to say, but ah well. ] My name is Lily, and I come from a world where there are a lot of different types of people, too. I'm not sure how many skills or talents I have that will be useful to any of you, but I do want to know -- how many of you believe in, or practice, magic?

[ that's it. that's her question. but after figuring that that blunt question might lead the suspicious to not really want to answer, she continues. it's a risk, and it feels odd saying it -- but after seeing so many different people, and watching the network closely, she figures it's a risk that could probably pay off in spades: ]

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

[ lily potter will make ice sculptures out of rain puddles all day if it means someone will give her something to do, thanks. ]

[ Jade gestures, raising one shoulder and flipping the corresponding hand over and under. ]

I used to be able to do much more than this, but...

[ Jade looks around for a moment, off camera. She's at work - the nursery, and there's plenty of strange plants in the background. On in particular is potted next a few feet behind her, something that looks lie it's got rows and rows of teeth growing out between the leaves of its head.

She deems it safe enough, and positions her finger like she's framing a picture. A very small picture. As she pulls them apart, the distance growing larger and larger, a crackle of green electricity surrounds the potted plant and it, too, grows, doubling in size.

It snaps it's jaws (???), as if testing it's new size. Jade balances her chin on her knuckles. ]

This and teleportation mainly! I can't exact shrink down planets to pocket sized right now, or swap their positions with each other, but I can affect the space things grow in. Mostly, space is the opposite of time, so I am in charge of, um. Creating things.

[ ...Lily doesnt need to know about breeding the universe right now ]

[ she watches, entranced. and when the plant grows, lily's eyebrows shoot up in surrpise. to grow something like that without the use of a wand . . . ]

Amazing. [ she sounds thrilled, eyes bright. ] And you can do that with -- did you say planets?

[witchhooded]

Yes, that is right!! With my powers, my friends and I escaped the end of the world! Well, the complete end of the world. It ended before then, too. We dimension hopped, and I took our planets with us. It was... a lot of work!

[ To say the least. ]

there is a long silence before lily allows a soft laugh to escape. ]

That is incredible.

[ almost too incredible to possible be true, but after... well, being here, alive and well and with james, lily can hardly discount the impossibility of a miracle. ]

Where did you learn how to do that?

Thanks! And... Nowhere, I guess! The clouds told me most of it.

[ It was also partly Karkat's idea - they made a pretty good team, once Jade ironed out all the kinks in the system. ]

Do you regularly communicate with the clouds?

[ -- hey, if putting planets in your pocket is possible, who's to say cloud-talk isn't? ]

It was not communication, really. They showed me the future!

[ Hey, it works for Jade - the only person who didn't bank on her as a spooky mc spookyton was her ectobro, so she'll share information willingly. ]

They were special clouds, I can't do it with the ones here, if that is what you're asking.

I've heard of people seeing the future before, and prophecies. I've always thought it was a bit mad.

[ it's a slight confession. ]

But there's some truth to some of them, I suppose, if you really have the gift. -- or, at least in my world.

Hehe, well maybe it is a bit mad! [ Jade doesn't mind. The bright smile isn't even teasing, just sincere. She knows it's weird - Dave and Rose liked to play up how weird she was. Is. ]

It is not much of a gift for me... the clouds can be seen by anyone on Prospit. As soon as you wake up, you can look into them, and if you are around when the time is right, you will see some things. Even you could do it, if you wanted to cloud gaze. It was a lot to keep track of, though!

Seeing into the future is a rare gift, in my world. There's really only a few people in our entire history that have been able to see the future, and be right.
