Sooo a while back I put in a little bit of a request with our alien overlord hosts. And shockingly enough it not only came through, it was actually what I asked for! Crazy right? Turns out good things happen to not-so-great people after all, which, obviously I don't mean me. I'm amazing.

Anyway what I got was this really awesome game from back home called "Bunkers & Badasses". So awesome in fact that there's still a copy of it even after the universe was destroyed which I feel is pretty indicative of the sheer levels of awesomeness we're dealing with here.

I don't know if any of you guys had tabletop back home but basically you create a character by choosing your fantasy race and class, and then you go on adventures and roll a bunch of dice! Bunker Teams are best in groups of four but being the utterly amazing Bunker Master I am, I'm willing to accommodate anyone who's interested in playing through a short campaign or two. The rules aren't too hard and making a character is easy.

That's fine. Like I said there'll be a lot of newbies there so I'll make sure to run you guys through everything. If you have any questions now I could answer them too.

I will wait. If I start questioning I may never stop.

And it might be best that I learn by doing.

If you're sure! I'll do my best to make sure everyone's more or less got the basics down before we start but I don't think we'll have a ton of time for character creation if we want to get things done in one day. Do you at least know what sort of character you want?

[he shakes his head at his device, then realises he can't be seen-]

I didn't think of it, no. What kinds of character are there?

[ It's okay...Rhys does that a lot too. ]

Well...literally dozens. How about we start with what you want to do? Most classes fall into attacking, supporting, or tanking--which means that get up in the boss monster's face and distract it. Which sounds best to you?

[inaurare]

I suppose... supporting?

[he's not sure what all of these things do, yet, but he doesn't much like the ideas of attacking or getting in a monster's face...]

What kinds of things can they do?

[rhygret]

A lot actually. You can buff the party (which means increase their fighting ability) and heal, you can do things like summon spirits or elementals to help and guide you, and if you spec into is you can also know a ton about the world and stuff so when challenges come up in the stiry your character will be able to provide the answer or know where to look.

[...he could do all of these things? Yes, it's a game and yes it's pretend, but could he really do all of those things?]

That... sounds more fitting, I think.

[ 100%. The sky's the limit when it comes to ~*~fantasy~*~ so go wild! BE THE YOU YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE]

Yeah? How about a Cleric then? They're great at that sort of stuff. They also get the best heals in the game.

A Cleric?

I think I will like that. Are there any other choices I ought to make ahead of time...?

Just your name and what race you want to be. Some of them give you slight stat boosts to stuff like your Intelligence or Dexterity which is useful for different classes.

I've not had to name anything before...

[his naming sense may not be fantastic, this one. But he'll give it his best shot]

Are there many races to choose from? Goodness...

[rhygret]

Wait really? Not even a pet or something? It's pretty easy. Just pick a name you like.

There's a ton of different races though. Orcs, goblins, elves, humans, half-elves, dragonborn... Any of these ringing a bell?

[inaurare]

No? I had birds, once, but they were a gift and they were already named...

I suppose Human is best; while I'm still getting used to the game and its rules.

[but the idea of elves is certainly tempting...]

That's fine! They're a pretty decent stating class, they get a bonus to every attribute since they're the well-rounded sort.

Perhaps I shall try something new later. But this feels like a good start.

[as for names... he can probably pick one out of a book or something.]

Yeah! Was there anything else you wanted to work on before the big game?

You have already helped me so much.

For now I'm all right, but as I say, I'm sure I shall have a thousand questions when we start. I shall try not to flood you with them.
