She smiles, but there's an undercurrent of nervousness in it because while multiple people have told her she could be on television, Alex's preferred medium has always been radio and podcasts. She's not quite sure what to do with her hands (they'd normally be on the control box) when she speaks so she picks up a pen and rolls it between her fingers.]

Hi! Um. Like a lot of you I'm a [kidnapee?] refugee and I need to find a job. Back home I worked as a reporter, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to use my skills doing the same thing here. I'd give you some references but I'm afraid that they probably wouldn't do you any good anyway now. [And she doesn't want to explain either what a podcast is, or how hers won a best of Apple award in 2015. So for now just a reporter will work.]

But my name is Alex Reagan and I've been working in the business since college, so I've got a fair amount experience. Thanks?

[Stupid camera, stupid being uncomfortable on camera, and Alex just turns it off with little preamble.]

What's a reporter?

A reporter is someone who learns all the news of the town and then writes it down and passes it along so that everyone else in town knows what it is. Not gossip, but like... important things.

It kinda depends on what the stories are here, I guess. Back home I was working on one large story but it's not... applicable here.

A lot of the things from home aren't. It makes for an interesting learning curve, no?

According to work gossip, much of the stories here are like any other town: rumors of indiscretions, shady dealings, rivalry. The murmurings abput Wyver are only interesting if you've a care for politics, and not everyone does.

[Though, frankly, Zev's of a mind that everyone should care at least a bit, if caring about the political climate can save one's life.

And it almost always can.]

How would you plan to disseminate whatever you find newsworthy? On here, perhaps?

I can't help job wise but I have a— ( hmm. friend might be the wrong thing to say when referring to cass currently. )

Someone I work with back home who is a reporter. Her work is all focused on mythology thought, how about you? Do you have an area of focus or are you more... open, in your work?

Back home I'm producing and hosting a podcast called 'The Black Tapes.' It's sort of based around belief and ghosts and demons and the unexplained and stuff.

yeah, i think there is a lot we could share. maybe itd help a few of us, too... i am trying to get it together as soon as possible, but thats easier said than done.

i was a photographer back home, so this isnt exactly my expertise. so i would love the help, even if i cant help on the monetary front.

Perhaps your reporting skills would be best suited to searching for work and reporting it back to the rest of us, for the time being. It seems that most of us refugees are similarly unemployed.

While I won't deny it's a worthy pursuit, I don't know if I'm the right person for the job. But I am speaking with someone else...

About possibly coming up with a paper for the displaced. It'd be a great idea to share job postings and stuff about employers there, as well as the rest of the news and what people have discovered about the storm and the like.

[Which is what her and Strand are investigating now.]

I think that could be quite valuable for all of us. It might also be beneficial to research what's needed to get a business permit, and who among Olympia's elites might be willing to loan money to fund a business venture.
