[Alex is sitting somewhere, and she's got a mug of coffee in front of her, along with a note pad and a pen. She smiles, but there's an undercurrent of nervousness in it because while multiple people have told her she could be on television, Alex's preferred medium has always been radio and podcasts. She's not quite sure what to do with her hands (they'd normally be on the control box) when she speaks so she picks up a pen and rolls it between her fingers.]

Hi! Um. Like a lot of you I'm a [kidnapee?] refugee and I need to find a job. Back home I worked as a reporter, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to use my skills doing the same thing here. I'd give you some references but I'm afraid that they probably wouldn't do you any good anyway now. [And she doesn't want to explain either what a podcast is, or how hers won a best of Apple award in 2015. So for now just a reporter will work.]

But my name is Alex Reagan and I've been working in the business since college, so I've got a fair amount experience. Thanks?

[Stupid camera, stupid being uncomfortable on camera, and Alex just turns it off with little preamble.]

I should probably be thinking about myself if I'll be staying here awhile.

( or forever, whatever the case. ) I heard there's like a city guard here? Maybe they could use a reporter. You know, going out and getting information on bad things so they know what's up.

Do you think that you're going to be able to return home?

[Not that Alex thinks she's not going going to be able to at this point, but she's not worked out the hows just yet.]

And I tend to think that the police are something that should be reported on rather than reported from.

[She can't help it, she's a hipster from Seattle.]

I have to believe. It's my duty not only to inspire, but to encourage hope. It might not be the same home, but I will find a home at some point.

( she falls silent with that, glancing to her hands with a frown but the odd glow seems to shimmer just a little brighter despite her saddened state. )

Oh... ( says the japanese goddess who born british. ) But they're not really police are they? Since they're doing it because they want to help instead of being paid to help.

Your...duty? Are you a priest or something like that?

[ oh alex. but she does notice the glow, of course. she just assumes that people from ammy's world glow. ]

Maybe. But I still don't think I want to work for them. And if they're volunteers, it doesn't really help me get a job.

[ says the woman who's about to take on probably at least one more unpaid job than she already has at the moment investigating with strand. ]

A goddess, actually.

( said like it is the most common thing in the world. )

Oh, I guess that makes sense. I'm sure you'll find something here that suits your skills though.

[11calls]

Really?

[That is definitely something new for Alex.]

[sunbathed]

Absolutely. I mean, I was born human but I am one of a long line of those born to this name. It happens every ninety years back home: a Recurrence as they call it, where twelve gods incarnate as human, awaken and spend two years spreading our gospel.

[11calls]

What kind of gospel? What happens after two years?

[sunbathed]

Everyone is different, but as I said: I live to inspire. I wish for people to believe in themselves and their abilities. That is my gospel.

( and as for the kicker question: ) After two years, we go away for awhile until we reincarnate again. I guess that's a nice way of saying that we'll die.

Well, that's definitely better than some sorts of gods I've read about.

[They almost always want to destroy something, in her experience. Normally the world.

But then she frowns.]

Two years? Aren't you really young?

[And now Alex is feeling so very old.]
