[ The feed turns on with a young elven man. Blond, windswept hair pushed from his eyes so the green shines more prominently. He sits at the head of the bed, leg crossed over the other, fingers knitted together and folded in front of him. There's a look to his face, one he's practiced enough to make it seamless and natural; it's focused, determined and confident.
He's planned it in his head, figured the speech. Now it's time to present. Hopefully, all bases are covered.
A smile plays on his lips but it's still with that air of leadership. ]
To my fellow refugees of Thesea, I am Inquisitor Lavellan.
Back in my world of Thedas I was the leader of a group known as the Inquisition. The goal of our group was to bring order back to a world that was thrown into chaos by an event known as The Breach.
In the end, it appeared we've failed due to the matter of the Storm, but I didn't come here to talk about failure. I came here with an idea and to succeed.
[A small pause for dramatic effect before he continues.]
We are a group of diverse people, probably the most that any of our individual worlds have ever seen. We come with different experiences, as different races, creeds, and a variety of knowledge.
What I'm suggesting is something similar to what my Organization has done. We bring order. We work together, bring our talents and skills to the forefront and find a way to destroy the Storm and hopefully save what we have lost. If there is a chance we may be able to restore our own worlds and go back to our lives if we choose too.
Darma said we must choose our side but I believe we can make our own. The foundation I'm looking to make is a neutral ground but with the end goal of defeating the Storm. That is our true enemy.
[ Finally, he unlaces his fingers and gestures a hand, holding it out to the side. ]
But, I do not intend to elect myself leader. I was chosen for the position back home for a quality I possessed but here? We're all on equal ground. I don't make any assumptions you would choose a complete stranger as a leader who has yet proven himself to all of you. What I suggest is we make a council instead. Those who are familiar with leading or have that quality, are willing to take up the duties required for it and will help do what is right.
From there, we would need agents, volunteers. Anyone willing to lend aid in gathering research and to help us secure some kind of base where we can operate from.
[ The smile becomes more broader, brighter and it's brimming with confidence. All playing into that careful mask he had to build back home when facing the mass public.]
I believe we can do this together. We showed that even when we were thrown into disarray we can unite and overcome. Consider what I've suggested.
For now, have a good day everyone.
[And he clicks off.]

As for a side...it really all depends. For the time being we need not make a decision on whom to side with but we can keep it in mind. If we're smart we may be able to get everyone to come together in this world.
[ Or at least he hopes. But it's a very, very meek hope. ]

Be honest with yourself, Inquisitor Lavellan. Do you really think that's a likely outcome?
video
I think so, yes. At some point everyone will realize that petty squabbles over land and nation are small in comparison into the thing that wants to swallow us whole. If I have to I will try my hardest to convince them to put those differences aside to focus on the real threat.
[ Even if he has to get into a liiiiiittle bit of blackmail. ]

For now she still has a voice. )
And that's what happened in your world? Everyone forgot all their differences and focussed on the real threat long enough to actually overcome it?
And you haven't had to hurt more people than you've so far helped?( Still, a part of her recognises, and can respect, where he's coming from. The best solution is never the prettiest, nor the most ideal. But it has to hurt more than help; otherwise what's the point? )

I won't lie to you. One country was in a state of civil war over a fancy chair, the leaders of the faith that my Organization came from all but denounced me in the beginning for my race, and everyone was pointing fingers at mages or templars for blowing up a peace talk for another war that was happening wide spread.
So believe me, I know how hard it is to put differences aside at the beginning. We had to resolve many of these issues before anyone would help, but in the end we still were able to accomplish it.
[ And the last question makes a part of his insides squirm and grow cold. ]
It would be a lie to say that my hands aren't stained in blood. I've had to kill to protect my life and those of others but I've always tried to stop unnecessary bloodshed. I've always looked for another route before I resolved that fighting was the only option.

( who watches the watchmen, people are always short-sighted, big personalities clash. that might seem like it's a long way off with this all just in the hypothetical stages, but, she knows, self-sabotage never is far when people are involved. )
But I will not judge you just for having a body count. I have one myself. And I mourn those who've lost their life because of me every day. Still, there are some deaths that I know I shouldn't ever undo, no matter how much distress they cause me.

[ And right there. That leader face? It falters just for a second. There's that crushing sense of defeat, that in the end Corypheus won in his own way. But, he steels himself. ]
But, that's neither here nor there. You're right, defeating the Storm is my long term goal. There are things we must do first before we can get to that point.
[ He listens to her words and there is a sad look to his eyes when she says that. They always say the healer has the bloodiest hands. ]
I'm sorry you dealt with that, but, I can understand what you mean. Some people...allowing them to live would only cause more trouble.

We should focus on what we can do for now. The includes helping the people already here in whatever way we are able. If anything, it wouldn't hurt your cause to gain as much favour as you can.
( Honestly she doesn't expect the sympathy, but that doesn't mean she won't accept it. It's gracious of him and actually endearing. )
Thank you, but we must always do what we can, to do the best that we can. All the same, I pray that is is neither easy for either of us to take a life.

Fair point. Establishing ourselves among the people would at least validate us in the eyes of others.
[ He looks to her for a long moment bbefore; ]
It never has been. [ It never will be. ]
Does this mean I have your support?
no subject
And if not, what have you done, other then help people? It's work to be proud of.
( After that she falls silent, considering the screen of her device as if it were actually him. She'd rather talk about this in person, really, spend more time getting to know him, and his plans, even if she already can form a solid sense about what kind of a person he is. )
'Support' is about politics. I do not wish to get involved in such a capacity. However, you will have my help. My purpose here is to help people. That's it. But, if you ever want my opinion, you will have it.
no subject
Very well. I won't bring up the subject on politics anymore in your presence unless you ask to speak of it.
But, I will always welcome your help and aid for the people, Mercy. It's the one thing we need right now.
no subject
Of course. And it is the one thing I can do. At some point I would like to open up an unaffiliated clinic offering care to whosoever needs it. Perhaps in the future we could work together in some capacity. Until then, if someone needs help, please send them my way.
gosh i totally missed this, sorry
np! just concluding, it seems
