Has anyone found a pod containing someone that was supposed to be dead? That they knew to be dead.

( river asks more out of curiosity than anything, out of trying to understand and gain more knowledge on the pods, on who and how they were brought here. she also can't deny that small piece of hope that comes with the question, of wanting to see someone that she couldn't (shouldn't) be able to see again )

Well, unless the circuits here are from sentient timeships you'd probably be correct.

;) People sometimes return to stasis - either at random, or because they've been otherwise fatally injured. Every so often someone will return to stasis then wake back up a short time later, claiming to have 'gone home' and have experienced life going on for them, usually for much longer stretches of time than have passed here.

I would say that is accurate though if all of our worlds have burned how could they have gone home? Either there's a lie or the 'life' is from a possible future had the storm not occurred.

How could they have gone home without physically leaving, too? If the storm occurred.

Psychic tubing, remember?

I'd like to see the aftermath of this storm.

Yeah, but where's it go to? Are all possibilities saved to a psychic cloud drive we get plugged into as therapy every so often? Is the fate of each world technically irrelevant because the storm takes place outside of time? Is the storm even real? Supposedly this is the aftermath.

Time doesn't exist in a linear fashion. The storm could be outside of time or occurring in a far later point in our time stream than we realise. If there is a storm. I'd like to see their records to know what it was that happened.

But even if there was a storm there are still possibilities.

I'm skeptical of it. My gut says there'd be more fallout.

There would be. When the universe ends it affects all of it. Even taking into account this being a separate universe why would it be unaffected when all others were?

It may not be. Supposedly, there have been brushes with it - and supposedly we're merely hidden, here. But it'd be a good cover for keeping rats in a real elaborate lab.

A better cover than what they expect us to believe. There are ways of hiding planets but they wouldn't be able to then bring someone here.

As far as you know. This tech isn't like anything I've encountered before - and I've spent months working on the station, when it was falling apart, when it's been in emergency low power mode. I think I know it pretty well and then the next day it'll pull something that doesn't make any sense with how it's tracked up until then.

I'll trust my instincts any day.

You mentioned the psychic components -- it would be easy to fool someone.

Fair enough. It would be. I'm not sure how many refugees have psychic abilities, if any.

Or how many would tell you about them.

Can you tell me what you thought you'd learned about the station? It would give me some comparison for my own investigation.

Mm, true. I forget that plenty of people come from cultures where abilities like that hide them, for one reason or the other. I can, but it'll take a while to come up with a report. I've put months of work into that thing. The base tech is a little behind what I'm used to, on its face, but the power capacity fluctuates unpredictably, can sometimes seem to react telepathically, and may actually be a physical manifestation of our saviors/captors/hosts.

I could think of a better way than putting it in a report. You could show me some of it. I'm a very quick study.

I'm not in a position to get to the station - or anywhere else - right now, but I hear you're also chatting with my chief engineer.
