Has anyone found a pod containing someone that was supposed to be dead? That they knew to be dead.

( river asks more out of curiosity than anything, out of trying to understand and gain more knowledge on the pods, on who and how they were brought here. she also can't deny that small piece of hope that comes with the question, of wanting to see someone that she couldn't (shouldn't) be able to see again )

Indeed, I knew all of my dearest friends to be dead. I should be among them as well, but the world thought it right to offer me a second life. It seems it's forgotten that I never asked for it.

[ This is how he is 80% of the time, it's fine. ]

I find myself asking the same question. Why should I be the one ripped from my grave while the others still sleep? It hardly seems fair to either me or them.

Technically, I suppose that I have.

[ for while james t. kirk perished eighty-one years ago, this wasn't the same man. gotta love alternate timelines. ]

The individuals in question, while technically deceased from my point of view, are from an alternate timeline that runs more or less parallel to my own. So in response to your query: yes, but also no.

Far more fluid than people are willing to consider.

[ temporal theory was never her favorite, and she swore she would never get caught up in one of those godforsaken paradoxes, and yet — theory was now experience. at this rate, if voyager ever got home, the department of temporal investigations was going to keep her held up in debriefings for weeks on end. ]

A likely scenario. It would explain why people's recollections of home don't always sync up when awakened from stasis.

It wouldn't surprise me, given that death seems to be a relative thing here.

There was something that happened not too long ago that brought different versions of people here. From other dimensions or something, I think. So I don't think it's unbelievable that the Natha would be able to bring living versions of people here.

[It's not something Ren has much experience with himself, but it's an interesting query, and might come up more so for people he knows here.]

In the sense that people die and get shoved in a tube and then come back like nothing happened.

Pretty solidly sure it was a dead situation.

Some of them definitely weren't just from other points in time, but obviously I can't speak for all of them, so it might have been some of both.

A little over three months ago. The Natha stopped time on the planet for a while, and it happened after they let it start again.

Not really. That was also when they disappeared.

It sounds like you're new. Did you ask about this because you found someone you shouldn't have been able to?

That's a big question. For the sake of your curiosity, or something else?

[He can certainly understand curiosity, but the Natha don't appear to have been all that forthcoming about the extent of their power, either.]

Not everyone who asks about the kind of power they're dealing with has good intentions, do they?
