Hello there! ( the image that appears is of a smiling blonde woman, healthy and bright looking, dressed now in pristine weight to present herself, projecting poise and elegance and friendly invitation to hear her out. her German Swiss accent is quite strong, though, so hopefully no-one is overly attached to their w's. ) I hope everyone is doing well this evening. I am coming onto the network to reach out to anyone I might not have been able to yet. My name is Angela Ziegler, and I am a doctor from Earth. Human, as you can see. ( a light, pleasant laugh and an even more pleasant smile ) You may also know me as Mercy. It's my agent name from when I was in service to a global peacekeeping organisation known as Overwatch.

I'm from the 21st century, so the treatment that I can offer you is science based ( a slight pause here as if she's considering one last time how to phrase this ) rather than magic based, but I have a good deal of practical experience with general medicine so there's almost nothing I haven't seen or dealt with. My expertise is in applied biotics, and I also have experience with gene therapy, prosthetics, and cybernetics, if there is anyone here who may need more specialised care. My qualifications also include emergency and trauma response so, if you ever find yourself wounded and in need of immediate attention, please do not hesitate to contact me. Think of me as personal 999 for refugees!

If you do come to me for any kind of care, I promise to do the best I can help you, while upholding all the oaths I've taken as a doctor to do no harm and to protect my patients. I'm not charging anything at this time.

And, if you'd like to humour me and help me to understand our group a bit better, I have a set of questions: do you believe you have a soul? What makes you think you do or don't have one? And is such a belief common where you're from? ( she doesn't mention religion, because it isn't strictly speaking a religious idea. she's known plenty of atheists and nay-theists who thought there was something beyond intelligence that made people paramount to other species. whether they called this unique internal animating light a soul or not, it didn't really matter. )

If the apocalypse truly came about, there would be no one to remember anything.

I'm sure someone would survive, somehow.
Like you say. Look at us now! Really, who can say what's actually possible? I don't think anyone seriously imagined magical immortal elves and magic rings gifted by gods who actually interact with their creation.

Is that common where you're from?

Only in children's tales.
But it is exciting, isn't it? To see what's possible. I honestly thought I'd seen everything the world had to offer.

I learned a few years ago to never underestimate what mankind is capable of. But I imagine you've seen quite a bit with that organisation you mentioned. Overwatch, was it?

[valcurie]

Yes, that's right.
I was head of medical research, so I got see all kinds of things. Soldiers manage to get themselves into all kinds of trouble!
I also became friends with a scientist who happens to be a gorilla born on the moon. His name is Winston.

( the future is an interesting place, truly. who needs faeries and dwarves? )

[ She was in the room when the little guy from Brooklyn transformed into Captain America and confiscated what she's pretty sure was a blue alien from Hydra at the end of the war. She can believe a gorilla born on the moon who went on to be a scientist. Right? ]

Certainly a diverse set of [ not people ] members in your group. I admit I'm rather intrigued.

( one of the more sensible reactions she's gotten. that endears her to Angela, and gives her some insight into the women she's speaking with--she's someone whom Angela could get along with, she's sure. they could do good work together. )

Ah, well. Do you like stories about heroes?

I grew up on them. But I often fancied myself the knight rather than the princess.

[ And then she went on to do just that, in her own way. ]

Ah, and the knights get to have more fun, don't they?

My brother would say that I was born seeking a life of adventure. But somehow I don't think he could have imagined anything like this place.

Is that what you are, then? You and those you work with. Heroes?

[valcurie]

Was he rather well-adjusted? I think even in my own world, imagining something like this, would have got a few eyebrows raised at you. Especially the magic bits.

That is who the agents wanted to be. My job was just to make sure they didn't die doing so.

He was. But given the goings on in my world before this all happened, particularly in my line of work, it was probably better to believe the unbelievable.

Oh, yes? I have a friend who'd say the same thing, if he were awake to do so. Efforts like that never go unnoticed.
