Coalition's coming up real soon, and I know plenty of us find it somewhat worthy of suspicion. I'd like to be in the area, but not attend, just to keep an eye on things from the outside in the event of an emergency. If anyone would like to join me, I'd appreciate the backup.

I appreciate your concern, regardless of your expectations!

It just feels like suspicion is a self-fulfilling prophecy, in this case.

If we start believing we're always a target, won't we alienate those around us?

This coalition is an opportunity to improve relations, not only between refugees and natives, but between Olympia and Wyver as well. Both cities planned this, together! We might just bring this planet a little closer to peace by being an active part of it.

That makes it feel especially ungrateful to presume the coalition is only intended to target us somehow.

You absolutely have a valid and important point. I do think you're piling a lot of emotionally charged assumptions onto what is, granted, a brief post, but I won't argue against the potential for apparent malcontent. I'm perfectly willing to adjust based on that concern.

Neither city was responsible for the kidnappings, and I don't think being on guard about this event casts any shadows on their governments.

The governments themselves aren't likely to find out. For that matter: I certainly don't intend to tell them.

I just think it's a missed opportunity for yourself, I suppose?

Of course you're free to feel whatever you want! But after everything that's happened, I think it's important to try to look at this - and at our lives here in general - positively.
