Good evening, fellow refugees. I go by Snake, and for the sake of preserving whatever culture we have, I have an inquiry. It is by all means optional, but I assure you that I have no malicious intent. You may ask questions of your own if you'd like it to be fair.

[He actually has... more than one question. He made a list. Brace yourselves.]

What sort of music did you listen to, back on your home world? Were their many genres, or did it all sound the same? Are there specific instruments, or was it all electronic? If there are no lyrics, how would you describe it? If there are lyrics, would you like to write them down? ... Did you enjoy it, or are you not the type to consume what must be one of the greatest form of art?

[He might be a little biased. He also has to take a breath, after all that.]

Or, if you would like, simply name a specific song and artist. Covers are acceptable.

I didn't really have a preference one way or the other. As it was, my taste was likely a bit behind whatever was modern at the time, since we could only listen to whatever the City threw out.

[Honestly, he's not really sure how to describe it.]

I want to say the majority of the songs I listened to were some sort of electronic remix? Usually listening to things without lyrics made it easier to use as background music when working, and you didn't notice it as much when you were looping the same few songs over and over if it was all voiceless.

i know what surround sound is.

[dude, he's from 2026, surround sound is basically everywhere by this point.]

when I say threw out, I mean literally...we only got whatever garbage its citizens threw out, hence why I say I was a few years behind. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, though...some of the songs they considered bad or out of fashion were quite good.

[Stringed instrument? Hmm...]

you mean like violins and orchestral music? Martha had some of those from her childhood, she played them at her home. They were soothing, but you can imagine that as children, not many of us paid attention to it at the time. A shame, isn't it?

[oh, come on. he's not that uncultured. Martha would have his ear if he wasn't.]

I look forward to it. If it's anything like what I remember from back then, I think it'll be a good experience. I'm assuming that's your favorite type of music to listen to?
