Good evening, fellow refugees. I go by Snake, and for the sake of preserving whatever culture we have, I have an inquiry. It is by all means optional, but I assure you that I have no malicious intent. You may ask questions of your own if you'd like it to be fair.

[He actually has... more than one question. He made a list. Brace yourselves.]

What sort of music did you listen to, back on your home world? Were their many genres, or did it all sound the same? Are there specific instruments, or was it all electronic? If there are no lyrics, how would you describe it? If there are lyrics, would you like to write them down? ... Did you enjoy it, or are you not the type to consume what must be one of the greatest form of art?

[He might be a little biased. He also has to take a breath, after all that.]

Or, if you would like, simply name a specific song and artist. Covers are acceptable.

I myself played the violin, and my brother frequently used samples from my playing and that of our other friends to make remixes.
Especially in the last few years, I probably listened to his tracks more than anything else.

[Mostly because Earth was destroyed and he was the only one present on the meteor really producing anything new, but still.]

But I like to think I had fairly varied tastes, and I used to listen to plenty of popular musical artists from various genres.
If you'd like, I could transcribe some lyrics from something that was popular in my time.

whatever my grandpa had too :)
so i listened to all kinds of genres although i suppose i havent been listening to music much since i got here!
perhaps i should change that hehehe
there are still instruments where i come from although they could have electronic add ons
like my bass!!! :D
which is pretty much the coolest instrument out there
as for lyrics well....
what kind of lyrics do you like snake??

You know, I've never really put much thought into music. [Says the man prone to breaking out into song...] But I do dig a little death music.

Prince isn't too bad. ( the chances that he gets this joke are like, 3/1 she figures. there are so many people from earth here. plus the way he presents himself and his interests, she thinks he might have named himself after the classical artist. )
Otherwise, I don't really have any preferences. One of my friends listens to a lot of '80s pop and rock, I suppose that kind of music is all right.

[He's not gonna get into "electronic" or whatever the hell that is, just yet. Or "covers." He's confused enough, thanks.]

That's quite the request. You're certain you'd know just any song that we'd mention?

[Teasing aside: ] Most of the music I've known falls into one of three categories: religious hymns, bardic stories, or bawdy tavern songs. Sometimes, the last two overlap quite a bit.

I enjoy various forms of classical music, such as Queen and Depeche Mode. And as much as I dislike non-magic technology, I will say classic musicians did wonders with it.

Nerd.

Here's a retro classic.

[You know, to expand your musical interests past 2000's Obnoxious Teen Pop.

It's a link. To an audio recording of Aoi belting out the first few lines of this classic.]

I didn't really have a preference one way or the other. As it was, my taste was likely a bit behind whatever was modern at the time, since we could only listen to whatever the City threw out.

[Honestly, he's not really sure how to describe it.]

I want to say the majority of the songs I listened to were some sort of electronic remix? Usually listening to things without lyrics made it easier to use as background music when working, and you didn't notice it as much when you were looping the same few songs over and over if it was all voiceless.

When are you gonna admit that Huey Lewis and the News write good songs?

[ This is a topic that he's interested in, and he was prepared to give his answer, but then Snake seems to keep going - on, and on, and on. ]

Are you doing a survey or something ...

Who's really going to sit down and answer all that

... Rock and Classical are my favourite genres.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

(CHORUS)
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching, but
You're too shy to say it
Inside, we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

(CHORUS X 2)

(Ooh, give you up)
(Ooh, give you up)
Never gonna give, never gonna give
(Give you up)
Never gonna give, never gonna give
(Give you up)

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching, but
You're too shy to say it
Inside, we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

(CHORUS X 3)

( switching to audio, the amusement in her voice is quite evident, but it also always makes her accent run a bit thicker. )

Ah, true! He is only the prince of pop, not the king. That would be Hasselhoff! ( now she actually laughs. ) He is older, yes, but I just thinks he likes that kind of music. He also likes modern music, if it doesn't wear him out.
