[After taking two weeks to familiarize himself with the city, Majima doesn't feel all that much less out of his depth than he did when he got there. He's memorized some of the streets and alleys, learned some local lingo, and most importantly, started to scout out some of the clubs in the entertainment district. If he doesn't get a job to occupy himself soon, he's going to go nuts.

He's got some ideas of where to look, but some of the clubs seem a bit more... permissive than he's used to. Majima doesn't quite get the network stuff yet, but it seems like a good place to poll for info.]

So has anyone out there found some decent places to go drinkin' yet? 'Cause if they need bouncers, seems like a good enough way to pay rent eventually.

[His ambitions are slightly higher than that, but always a good way to get a foot in the door if you know how to kick people out of it.]

And I wouldn't mind knowin' what's the closest thing this planet's got to whiskey, either.

[Majima barks out a short, dry laugh. He respects the honesty, especially when he's having the same problem.]

Well, can't say I wanted to be a bouncer when I grew up. Try and think short term.

I have experience in traveling long distances, fighting for my life on a constant basis, shooting a fucker if he gets in my face enough, and theological studies dealing with the Asian continent. I guess I'm pretty damn good with traditional Buddhist chants and ceremonies as well seeing as I spent my life working for a religion that no longer exists.

Any good ideas on possible job opportunities?

[Because wandering into the woods and living by himself was sounding more and more like a good idea the more he thought about it.]

[Majima doesn't say anything for a moment. He knows hitmen-- they usually aren't so upfront about it. Usually aren't trustworthy, either.

Then he laughs again, more quietly.]

Maybe they got a monastery around here somewhere.

[He's been considered a mercenary on occasion by some, but truthfully he never really thought himself as such. He's a priest pure and simple. He's simply ended up in plenty of situations where he had to do some less than savory things as thanks to people who have mutually helped him.

I've visited the churches here already. Every single one of them seem to be a worshiping ground for vague and mostly incorrect stories based around a being known as 'Darma'. I believe we both know better than to blindly follow that bullshit, no?

[Majima hadn't really had time to wonder what exactly the relationship between the natives and the Orbiters were, especially if they had to keep everything so hush-hush. He sure as hell hadn't been looking for churches, either, so this is news to him. News, naturally, that couldn't sound any shadier if it tried.

They just let the people down here worship them like gods? Not wanting to interfere with a civilization's development makes sense, but--]

That's fucked up. Thought they weren't supposed to know about her down here.

Well apparently someone let the word slip, because they know about her all right. Worship her like a bringer of life. I highly doubt anyone native to the planet knows the full extent of the matter though.

[Sanzo himself was quite immune to what was going on. Ageless immortals also did quite the same thing on his own world, and he wouldn't be surprised if many other planets were also experiencing such situations.]

It probably gives her a nice big ego boost. Might be why she's so eager to create more 'civilians' for herself as well. Just more sheep to add to the flocking masses.

Don't think she'd tell us who she was if it was that simple.

[Majima is all for some good paranoia, but Darma doesn't seem like the egotistical type. Doesn't seem like the personality type at all, if he's honest; the Orbiters are stiff as cardboard. He's met a few narcissists in his time, and she's not down on the ground parading herself.]

Must be some of that prime directive shit, or whatever they call it.

[Sanzo still didn't fully trust it. Between the specific knowledge the Orbiters seemed to possess and the churches set up in droves dedicated to their existence, he wouldn't put it past them. Flat as cardboard or otherwise.]

As specific as some of the passages in their scriptures seem to be, it can't all just be coincidence. There are names and situations that actually did occur, and they are recorded far too exactly to the truth.

Makes me wonder if some of the people here in Olympia know more than we were let on.
