[After taking two weeks to familiarize himself with the city, Majima doesn't feel all that much less out of his depth than he did when he got there. He's memorized some of the streets and alleys, learned some local lingo, and most importantly, started to scout out some of the clubs in the entertainment district. If he doesn't get a job to occupy himself soon, he's going to go nuts.

He's got some ideas of where to look, but some of the clubs seem a bit more... permissive than he's used to. Majima doesn't quite get the network stuff yet, but it seems like a good place to poll for info.]

So has anyone out there found some decent places to go drinkin' yet? 'Cause if they need bouncers, seems like a good enough way to pay rent eventually.

[His ambitions are slightly higher than that, but always a good way to get a foot in the door if you know how to kick people out of it.]

And I wouldn't mind knowin' what's the closest thing this planet's got to whiskey, either.

But you don't understand, sir. [that was one hell of a facetious "sir."] Being an asshole is at least half the fun of being drunk. And if you're too much of an asshole, it's up to your buddies to handle it. That's why you don't drink alone. Putting a third party in there who doesn't know you or how much is too much just complicates the whole system.

Nothin' wrong with gettin' a little loose. But if you think everyone takes the time to pull a buddy system together, you ain't been to a lot of bars.

I've been to hundreds of bars. I just always have another guy there with me. Typical. One pathetic idiot drinks alone and challenges half the bar to a throw-down and now all of us have gotta suffer.

[It's becoming pretty clear he's not even that invested. He's just exactly the kind of person who would get bounced.]

[Majima knows the type. At least the job won't be boring if he finds it.]

Gonna take a wild guess and say it was more than one. They ain't always alone, either.

Those're the semantics of a dude who really wants a job where he can ruin other people's fun.

Ruinin' a dickhead's fun ain't necessarily a bad thing.

But are you discerning about who the real dickheads are. That could be a very subjective concept.

I tend to go with whoever's harassin' the waitresses. Maybe that's just me.

[Sarcasm is a lot heavier now, because is this really something that calls for semantics? Really?]

I can accept that. I don't got any reason to do that.

Then you don't gotta worry about me kickin' you out of any bars any time soon.

[He doesn't believe that at all, but he sounds convincing enough.]
