As I am sure many of you are aware at this point there seem to be quite a few cultural differences here that many of us are slowly trying to accustom ourselves to upon arriving on El Nysa.
One of the more obvious ones is this planets interests in celebrating ones own... lascivious tendencies.
Surely I can't be the only one to be moderately agitated by the constant barrage of aphrodisiac laced trickery, both man-made and natural on this planet.
I suppose what I'm trying to bring to discussion is, everyone's personal responses to what's forced upon us. Especially those of us who live in Wyver who have no way to avoid it every time the end of the month roles around. You know, since it seems to be a time based situation over Olympia's more location based magic.
[Surely he can't be the only person perturbed by all these darn aphroevents.]

Unless...don't tell me you're nervous? Too shy to make a move?

[Getting to know people is for losers.]

Why not indulge a little then? You sound like you could use the relaxing exercise.

[Dear god what's with all these people trying to insinuate he should get around?! All he wanted to do was spread awareness.]

I highly recommend it if you haven't, it's easily one of the best stress relievers around by far.

[Like smoking, and drinking, and gambling, and excessive violence.]

But are they as good as sex? If you know of something even better I'm always open to hear new ideas. The same old same old gets a little boring after a while.
Seriously though, is it truly so awful that they encourage us to enjoy ourselves? I think it's a pretty nice break from thinking about the fact that our worlds are gone forever. It helps that it's a fun way to get to know people too.

Those things are all usually quite nice and incredibly relaxing.
A long hot bath is also fairly good.
Also keeps you free of accidental offspring, unwanted diseases, and emotional obligations.
[Well, save for the whole cigarettes leading to cancer thing. But knowing his own track record he probably wasn't going to live long enough to get such a thing anyway. So might as well smoke it up.]

Oooh and the bath too! Never got to really enjoy those often as much, I was used to quick showers before coming here.
I still think sex ranks pretty high among even those lovely things, it really is worth a try. I kind of agree here too, but that's just where you get crafty. Knowing a talented healer comes in handy with the second and keeping things with no attachments comes in handy for the third. The first is just being careful, more common sense than anything if it's even possible with who you're with.
And if you're that worried, well. There's more than just one way to get intimate with someone else than just the textbook affair.
[The second and third points hardly even pass her mind to be a concern, not when she has talented mages for her friends.]

[Was he making a jab at her? Naaahhhh.]
Even more so, I'd rather not deal with even the threat of possible emotional expenditure. Whether it be caused by the situations stated above, possible blackmail or emotional shaming, or any other possible negative repercussions.
Really, in the end, the possible negative effects simply do not seem worth it for a few moments of physical and moderately disgusting stress relief.
[Casually sips at his cup of tea from home.]

[Can't have diseases from sleeping around if they get magicked away before they can do any harm. ~The power of magic~.]
That's just where you get to be picky on who your bedmates are. No one in their right mind rolls in the sheets with just anyone. There's looks to be accounted for, personality in if you can stand hearing them speak for longer than five minutes without wanting to stick cotton in your ears. Understanding too, the right person looking to have a good time will understand their boundaries and not try to turn the tables against you.
Do what you will, but it's far more than just grabbing the first person you see off the street and throwing caution to the wind. Even with the help the people in the city likes to make happen for us all every now and then. Standards are a good thing.
[And then because she can, because she's the absolute worst:]
It's far from being anything other than messy but some of the best things truly are. Hard to describe too, yet absolutely satisfying. Far better than your hand or any creative alternatives.

Isabella really likes talking about sex, doesn't she?]
... That sounds like quite a bit of unnecessary hassle for a few moments of stress relief.
[Gee Sanzo. That's all you gotta say?]

Well I guess if you want to skip all of that you can, but you'd better have a healer who knows their stuff in case things goes awry.
[Which she knows all too well from personal experience, but that's something she keeps to herself thanks.]
I hardly think the act itself has to have any purpose or meaning behind having a little bit of fun or letting off some steam, but if you're truly worried you can always try it with someone you trust if you ever want to give it a try. At least that skips the need for all the precautions and gets right to the main event.

A. I don't trust anyone for shit.
and
B. How many times do I have to tell you that it's too much effort and far too disgusting to be my cup of tea.
Why are you trying to sell this up so much again?
[Body fluids are gross. People are gross. Effort is gross.]

Believe it or not I'm not actually trying to change your mind, I'm just speaking from experience is all. I've definitely done my fair share of dabbling in such matters, so I've got plenty of advice for when it counts. I think it helps to know what to do should such things ever come around to going down, with a bonus of having fun tricks to teach too.
[Dabbling....definitely an understatement but, details.]
So then are you one of those then? You know...sworn off your virginity for a greater cause, an act of...what was it. Celibacy? And before you get angry I'm not saying anything against it, I'm just curious is all.
no subject
Gojyo would have certainly had a few things to bond over with you.]
Ugh. Please. I may have taken up the life of a monk but that does not mean I've sworn an oath of anything to anyone.
[Buddhism is a very forgiving and lenient religion filled with self-reflection and beliefs that can be interpreted in different ways by whoever chooses to listen.]
It is entirely a personal preference on my part. Perhaps someday my opinions on the matter may change. Or perhaps they may not. But it is entirely up to my own volition.
At the current moment through personal interest in such things is completely non-existent.
