Where I'm from magic is pretty common. Seems like there are three types of worlds:
the ones with no magic, the ones where everyone who knows about magic is really secretive about it, and the worlds where you're more or less expected to know about it.

Of course, the distinction between the first and second items... may not be a large one.
There's no way to be sure one world that seems to be the first isn't actually the second.

Of course, erasing all evidence of something is a tall order.
I'll concede it's certainly possible, depending on how wide-spread this hypothetical use of magic might have been, though.
