While we don't yet fully understand the process, over the past few months it's become clear that any of us could return to stasis at any time. In some cases, more than once. And while I'm sure we all have family and friends from our worlds we hope to see — sooner rather than later — those of our acquaintances from the many others represented here shouldn't be remembered as just faces in those pods.

I think it's well past time we organised ourselves a little to keep track, if only to expedite that process for all of us. To that effect, I've set up a noticeboard for refugee use.

How're you settling in?

Does anyone ever tell you it's going great? I don't fall into that category, I'm just curious.

Usually those who feel they've escaped where they were and have a chance at a fresh start here.

[sheriffing]

[ she thinks she might have wanted that when she was younger; when she was a kid in the system, or in prison. now, the end of the world actually feels like it. even if she'd hoped to escape, it'd still be a shock at every level. things are... different, here.]

That's the first positive spin I've heard, I wasn't looking at it like that.

It's the truth for some and not others.

Either way, it takes a little adjustment.

How long have you been awake?

[beknight]

Six months.

[sheriffing]

Six months later, are you settled in here?

[beknight]

I've gotten used to it as best I can.

If my family joins me, I'll have a different answer for you.

[sheriffing]

I don't blame you. That's what makes all of this seem like an impossible ask to me; having to move on while my family is sleeping.

[beknight]

I know how you feel.

Did you manage to find all of them in the pods?

[sheriffing]

For what it's worth, I wish you didn't.

( it's not something she wants other people to relate to.)

Yeah. It took some looking, but they're there. I keep telling myself they're safe there, but leaving my son was the hardest part. Did you find everyone you were looking for?

[beknight]

I found everyone I needed to. I have a son of my own sleeping there.

[ And he gets that too, the pain of separation from a child, watching them like that in the stasis pods. ]

Think it's too much to hope for some kind of mass awakening where we're all reunited with our families here?

[ she already knows the answer, just like she knows her own luck.]

No. Hope is what keeps us going.

My parents would say that.

[ maybe they always said it for a reason.]

[beknight]

As would mine.
