I have seen some discussion concerning the people who are still in pods and it has led me to wondering. How would you handle someone you have unpleasant history with being here?
[ Not long ago, "kill them should they deserve it" would have been a quick response, but it's not one he can make now. He didn't have the nerve to actually kill who he planned to kill when he did show up. Bit too late now. ]
That's already happened to me. There's not much to handle. We're both here; I don't expect that to change. I'm fortunate in that we'd come to an agreement not long before finding ourselves here.
I take it your person is sane enough to respect boundaries. I think even if I were to broker such an agreement, the person I'm dealing with would break into my bedroom to kill me given the chance.
Do you often believe everything you're told? A healthy dose of skepticism is always something good to have, particularly regarding those in charge of things. Power corrupts.
Posting this anonymously was a way to hear honest opinions without being concerned about judgement or public opinion. It was an option for you as well.
That would depend on the unpleasant history. In some cases, I would attempt a peace offering so that I could be on civil terms with the other person. In other cases, I would simply avoid them.
[Or there are other shadier options he might entertain, but he's not going to admit that any of them would ever be a consideration.]
Do not go seeking them in the pods in the first place.
[she's been doing so with Zarkon and the rest of his ilk.]
But should they awaken, then that is a different story. What sort of unpleasant history are we talking about? After all, it can range from someone having destroyed your homeplanet to someone who merely insults you at every opportunity.
It would be a one-sided confrontation if I were to try to handle things while they're in their pods. It wouldn't resolve anything.
They aren't personally responsible for the destruction of an entire planet, but they're affiliated with a group whose predecessors are responsible for the deaths of millions and their mission hasn't changed.
My history with many of these people is not so unpleasant that I would be unable to face them.
[as is the case for the vast majority of his clients. But...]
But. There is one whom I long to see, yet dread to see again. I don't know how our reunion would play when we would be... practically equals. We had never been, before.
I suppose that's another thing to consider. There's potentially a change in dynamic in any of the relationships we had with people we knew before here. It makes it more difficult to predict how things will unfold.
Depends on how unpleasant it is and whether they caused it really. As it stands the guys I have here that I know have been through some shit with me and I'd rather have them here and awake than here and in a tube.
Causing an issue with others, even ones we have bad blood with, would just make life here more difficult for everyone. What more can we do than avoid them, or even attempt to rectify what it is that has caused the rift? We are all just trying to make a life in this new world.
That could work in normal situations, but deciding what to do with those who would rather cause destruction is more difficult. It stands to reason it would be better for everyone if they weren't here.

As to how I'd handle them, now that all depends on the person, doesn't it?

she's already read some of the other responses, so of course rey has an opinion. ]
i'm in that very position, with someone who's awake and not in stasis. i've already had a run-in with them.
[ it didn't exactly end with flowers and a heartfelt apology, either. ] confrontation will be an inevitability.

How did that turn out for you? Do you think a resolution is possible? If not, what can be done?

Ryuji is the least mature person ever.
Don't be like Ryuji.]
I found their pod and drew dicks all over it. Threw in an "ASSHOLE" for good measure.
