hello everyone it is jade and makoto!!!
jade speaking
when you had the big beach party where we met all the new people makoto and i found the skeleton of a creature!
it was very sad :(
in any case she and i took a tooth from its skeleton
with help from my spacey powers :p
Anyway, we should get to the point of this posting.
I requested Jade’s help to see if the tooth had any sort of applicated effects.
We noticed when mixing it with some painkillers we had on hand that it dramatically increased their potency.
We aren’t licensed chemists, but we figured it might have some effect we could reproduce and use for our cause.
Of course, any good experiment needs subjects.
technically i am a licensed chemist!
but its true that just us two is not enough data hehe
Right. So we’d like to ask for some help.
You can meet us both this afternoon in my office at the Simwe Institute for an interview.
I can see about possible compensation for your participation, but I can’t guarantee it.
We’d also love to hear from anyone with any expertise in chemistry or medicinal science.
[ for anyone interested in threading an appointment or experimental trial, PM Makoto or Jade’s account (
witchhooded)! we’ll set up a private log for that at the start of the month.
also you can expect tags from both Makoto and Jade. Jade will reply with her color, but Makoto won't. she only used color text because Jade said it would be eyecatching. whoops ]

You found a skeleton and your first thought was to grind a little up and mix it with some tylenol? How does that conversation happen?

i am curious to find out if dosage remains the same across different bodies right now personally
this could be a big break for medication!
if you have suggestions or things you would want to try yourself though i am listening

That aside, reading through the lines, something sticks out --]
You tested the effects of the tooth on yourselves?
no subject
i would not ask people to do something unless i was almost completely sure it was safe
in this case it seems like the tooth grindings raise the potency of certain properties and i would like to see if dosages remain the same across bodies as well as see if there is a pattern across what elements it increases
or decreases if that ever happens
for some reason i have a feeling it will not though :\

[ A pause. ]
I took a tooth, also. If you need more.
no subject
[ makoto digs around through a desk before pulling something out. it's a tooth. the tooth, obviously. ]
It's an exact match of this one? If you're willing to part with it, I can pay you. I'd really appreciate it.

If you need more volunteers, I don't mind helping out.

I'm glad so many people recovered teeth. I suppose it was the easiest thing to take from the fossil.

Maybe they know something about its uses, and you can avoid human experimentation altogether.
no subject
that would require retrieving the carcass which was underwater and.......
pretty large!
but perhaps it can be arranged
regardless experimentation would be needed anyway
how do you think medication ends up in your medicine cabinet!! hehe

so good to talk to you again :D
actually i think your abilities can be used in a multitude of ways for this
if you want to take the medicine for us that would super helpful but also if you are willing to
i think we can work something out so you can help in a way only you could!

mainly what we have noticed is that it increases the effects of what it is mixed with
headache medication caused full body numbness for quuuuuuuuuite a while
i would like to tweak it so that we can get something as quick working but not nearly as inconvenient :P

Where is your information on the animal trials?
You can't expect us to take a medication without knowing the potential side effects.
no subject
We need volunteers because we don't know the potential side effects.
Where I'm from, trials like this usually occur with animals, but we'd prefer not to do that if we can.
Text | un: mephychan
But I wonder: are you accounting for volunteers who may be a bit less than human? This place is quite the melting pot, after all.
no subject
To be honest, I'm still not totally used to the level of nonhuman beings that exist here.
I'm going to have to try to account for that so it doesn't become a confounding variable later on.. and adjust it as a personal bias as well.
We want anything we produce to help as many people as possible, so we're definitely interested in testing how it reacts to different biological makeups.

[ Well this sounds like a disaster in the making. Because when has introducing super-powered pain relievers into society not caused numerous deaths? ]
Did you know that many potent painkillers have been considered the most lethal and addictive drugs in history?
no subject
[ there's a click to her voice — she's obviously a little perturbed by this response, to hear that someone would think she'd willingly or ignorantly introduce something harmful into el nysa's burgeoning society. ]
This isn't a joke to us. We're approaching it very carefully.
[text]
Bright young minds like these would have immediately struck him as worth recruitment, back in the day. ]
So you're looking for guinea pigs, is that right? What exactly do you want us to test?
[ Most traditional medication doesn't work on him because of his enhancements, so he's curious to see just how potent this ground-up tooth might be. ]
no subject
I can tell you we're looking at potency and lasting effects of the tooth's makeup as a gradient.
I'm sorry I can't tell you any more. Of course, we'll be as transparent as we can after the experiment has ended.
[ and she does feel bad about that — asking people to take a chance on them. ]
(no subject)
voice;
I'm not so sure this is a good idea. How did it even cross your minds to mix it with painkillers?
[time for a complete stranger to Fuss]
voice
The idea was a bit of a fluke, I guess! Mostly we thought it might be a good idea to experiment with it. From there we thought that it would be best to try mild painkillers first, but we did observe reactions and did not find anything that pointed to truly adverse reactions. The institute's technology is pretty up to date and state of the art, it is kind of amazing!

Being a guinea pig? That's....kinda shady, isn't it?
no subject
[ not like a certain one from back home.. ryuji somehow manages to get to makoto a little and now she's feeling self conscious. ]
It doesn't really come across like that, does it? Like we're trying to manipulate people?
