I'm with the original batch of refugees and there's a lot of you I haven't met - a lot I probably never will. [ at this point, with everything so permanently Wild, why not be blase about being Batch Number 1? ] As a doctor, I'd like to reassure and remind you that if the medical methods on offer here make you uncomfortable, there are alternatives. There are plenty of medical professionals from various backgrounds among us, so I encourage you to ask around if you need to. Don't feel like the Sanctuary's your only option - although from what I understand a lot of us do work there now, so it's also a safe place to go even if you are wary.

On that note, I'm putting together a list— yeah, I know we all hate the L word, don't panic —of people who are either medically trained or capable of healing magic. If you fit into that, anywhere from an ability to deliver first aid to, I don't know-- magical liposuction. [ this is a thing he regrets saying as soon as it's said, the immediate frown of "??? why the fuck" appears on his face literally immediately before being smoothed forcibly away ] Get in touch. I'll need to know a few basics. Skillset, medical background, level of expertise, whether or not you're comfortable to be contacted by fellow refugees, whether or not you're comfortable to be contacted to help in an emergency. You don't need to fire it all at me in one go unless you want to, we'll have a chat. Feel free to reply privately, that's fine. Replying doesn't immediately put you on a public database, I won't be handing out your name to anybody without your permission. Thanks.

As I am often where I'm not supposed to be, that may be a wise idea. You can add it to your database of the unfortunately infirm. I like the way you introduced yourself, by the way. Very brusque, straight to the point. I may have to give it a try myself.

Not down here, but we do have resources up on the ship. If it helps, we're looking into manufacturing. Medicine. In the meantime, I'm asking the Orbiters for what I can. It comes slowly, but if you know your prescriptions I can ask for a supply in the next batch, and with any luck I'll be getting some staples in. We've just got to be careful with who sees what, down here.

Right, because the people in massive robot armour, or with scales for skin get overlooked, but a little bag on a wheeled stand would give it all away.

Yeah. [ y e a h. ] Can't imagine finding out God's actually a spaceship full of all powerful aliens would be great for the sociopolitical climate, so I can understand why they'd rather we not.

Well we all did, and would you look at us being civil. [A pause.] Is that what you think? They're Gods?

No, not— [ mine, for all the good that ever did him. a brief hesitation, ended with a tick of his brow and the corner of his lips. hah. ] Well. They did more than anything else that might be out there. Who knows. They're certainly more talkative than I've ever known a god to be.

Perhaps he just hasn't been talking to you. I don't know. I don't know what they are but - all that steel, those pods - I don't think that can be divine.

[enarms]

No. It doesn't seem very— [ what? very what. Church of England? ] Mm.

Doesn't stop them worshipping Thesa down here. Because they're none the wiser. And that's how they want them to stay.

Do you think it's sustainable? Not everyone I've met here is quite as discrete as your good self. No wonder you're employed in a brothel.

Right, thanks, too kind. And left to our own devices? No, no chance. I suppose we'll have to wait and see how serious they are on keeping track of slip ups.

Not a little frightening. Could they be watching now, do you think? When we sleep? Would they know when we're awake? Because, you know what I'm thinking?

Sorry, pardon, my error. Unless Darma's Santa and the rest of them are the reindeer? They can't all be Santa. Elves?

My god, do you think they have Christmas here? I don't know if I can make it through a December without the carol of the bells.

Something tells me probably not, since they worship the moons in the sky, one of which is actually a space station. Maybe we could ask Darma to start a rumour about a holy child? Shine a little moonlight down on an unsuspecting mother?

I am willing to dress in blue and cradle a barbie dressed in swaddling clothes, if it might help the cause.
