I'm with the original batch of refugees and there's a lot of you I haven't met - a lot I probably never will. [ at this point, with everything so permanently Wild, why not be blase about being Batch Number 1? ] As a doctor, I'd like to reassure and remind you that if the medical methods on offer here make you uncomfortable, there are alternatives. There are plenty of medical professionals from various backgrounds among us, so I encourage you to ask around if you need to. Don't feel like the Sanctuary's your only option - although from what I understand a lot of us do work there now, so it's also a safe place to go even if you are wary.

On that note, I'm putting together a list— yeah, I know we all hate the L word, don't panic —of people who are either medically trained or capable of healing magic. If you fit into that, anywhere from an ability to deliver first aid to, I don't know-- magical liposuction. [ this is a thing he regrets saying as soon as it's said, the immediate frown of "??? why the fuck" appears on his face literally immediately before being smoothed forcibly away ] Get in touch. I'll need to know a few basics. Skillset, medical background, level of expertise, whether or not you're comfortable to be contacted by fellow refugees, whether or not you're comfortable to be contacted to help in an emergency. You don't need to fire it all at me in one go unless you want to, we'll have a chat. Feel free to reply privately, that's fine. Replying doesn't immediately put you on a public database, I won't be handing out your name to anybody without your permission. Thanks.

Lovely, thanks. Alright. So a limited run, not ideal for critical injury, but fine on a short term emergency call or something less urgent?

You got it backwards. Call me when you really want someone to not die. Healing little bruises is a waste of time when others can do it better than me.

Oh. Pardon me, I took "given enough time" to means time-sensitive injuries were best avoided.

Actually, could you explain what you think you'd be suited to? I'm only really familiar with practical medicine, so it's better I don't assume.

By that I meant that my healing will probably won't work instantly, but steadily.

[ A pause as she considers her words. ]

I don't regrow limbs, but I could probably make sure you don't lose one if it's badly damaged. Same with organs. That's the gist of it.

Okay. So. Sorry, just clarifying - provided a patient isn't in critical condition— by that I mean provided death isn't imminent, that they're not going to die of blood loss before you get a chance to heal them. Provided they're stable or there's someone else present capable of keeping them stable, you're the person to go to for healing severe injuries. That about right?

Yes but- ugh.

If someone's in critical condition, I can get them back to good health too. Think of it as me stopping whatever is harming them and putting them back together. Once I start healing them they would need to be extremely hurt to actually keep getting worse.

Yeah, I think so. Sorry, I'm just trying to -

[ not having any frame of reference other than his own is a struggle. he's really trying to understand, but it's not worth running the risk of saying "yes" outright when he's not quite there yet. so, in what is hopefully one last attempt: ]

—Different worlds. [ apology and explanation both. ] Where I'm from, if you're bleeding out you need to stop the bleed before you can start the healing. Are you saying whatever you can do would cover both of those steps? Sort of - freeze the medical state of the body and then improve it?

By infusing the Force on someone's body I am capable of enhance it's own capacity to heal. It promotes life anew, so to speak. Generating the lost blood, at least partly, would be possible. Then again, there's a point there I would probably won't be able to do much, but it would...extreme.

[ The Force isn't magic, as much as some people might seem to think that. ]

With some luck we won't test those limits.

[ okay. okay. the Force aside, he's not going there, it's making sense to him now - as much as it can without him seeing it operate in the extreme. and it makes her an ideal candidate for the app. ]

Yeah. Hopefully not.

Would you be at all interested in acting as part of a first response team? There's an app in the making that'll let people alert healers to a medical emergency. It's not paid work, we're hoping we won't need to use it much, but it's going to be a measure to make sure there's always someone about to answer a call for help if someone's in trouble.

Just how likely you think we're going to end up needing this?

Oh, we'll need it. Place like this? A city? Yeah. Even if it's just for muggings and chemistry mix ups over at Simwe Institute. Where there're people, there are people getting into tricky situations where the end result hurts a lot.

[ for anything more serious? who knows. he'd like to hope not, but he won't hold his breath. ]
