Have you already had an unfortunate encounter with an unusual creature? Something that lured you in with the voice of family or friends? A thieving sepht making off with your valuables? Did something injure you? I would like to hear of it.

This is a bit more unusual, I suspect, but I would also like to hear of it if someone here from your world has memories that do not line up with your own. Not mere cases of he-said-she said, but something more... verifiable. Perhaps one of you bears a scar that the other knows should not exist?

It does make one wonder, although the issues that fuel my question do not seem so directly related to time.

For an example, a particular one-time event leaves a permanent magical scar in a person's hand. I have met a person here who has experienced that event, bears the precise scar, and knows me as though we have worked together, but it is not the person I know to have lived through that event.

[ Somehow she feels a bit reluctant to bring up her other example just yet, her mind not fully wrapped around it and still feeling somewhat of a sting over the implications. ]

I am not completely unfamiliar with the concept of alternate realities, but even the connection I have to that involves the same people in the same roles.

But all absurdities aside - the lady has a problem, and fixing those is kinda-sorta in the vicinity of his previous job description. So he does have a knee-jerk reaction, built partly of old habits and older promises still, to sincerely try to help. ]

Wrong as it might seem, I'm guessing this AU business isn't something anyone can exactly 'set right' in terms of your reality.
Or explain. At least I can't.

their fangs dripped what looked like venom, but i wasn't bitten. hard to confirm.

I had a run-in with those spiders in the forest on our way to Olympia. They sounded like my little brother, who's still asleep.

The other person from my world isn't from the same time as me. He doesn't remember things from the past two years.

Curious. How did you escape them?

And this person who arrived directly from your past: do his memories otherwise align with yours?

One of them bit me and I guess they had some sort of numbing toxin in their fangs because I got caught in their web. Luckily, someone found me and cut me free.

So far they have, but honestly we haven't spoken much about the details. There have been other things that we needed to talk about first.

Did you suffer from any ill effects beyond your time in the web?

I would be curious to hear more if you discover that your past is not quite the same as your friend's. You need not share anything deeply personal if it comes to that. I simply wonder how common this is and what, if anything, might have caused it.

I didn't, but I heal faster than most of the others in our group. Someone with a more normal healing capacity may have been effected differently.

I've heard some people talk about other universes, places where many things are the same but just as many are different.

Well, I mean, that's really the crux of it. I'm from the 13th century, he's from the 21st, and it's obvious it's the same world. Oh sure, he tried to explain it all away with some nonsense he made up, but it's still very suspect, don't you think?
