Um. Hi there! That is, this is probably a bit of a silly thing to put up here and I know I don't usually post much around here but... Has anyone seen a man by the name of Venom around recently? Our contact is kind of sporadic but I haven't heard a word from him at all for nearly a month now. which is strange even for him.

He's a tall guy, super well muscled, kind of has this weird hair where it all covers in front of his face with a blue eye dyed into it?

Anyway, if anyone sees him can you tell him to contact Phoenix Wright? Or, I don't know, if you see this here Venom can you just say so?

This is true, yes. This was earlier in the year - around the first we heard of this Nithor business...

Ah right! Right during the festival! Man, that's only a few months after me and him first met.

He really was kind of secretive about his life, wasn't he?

[How much did he really not know about Venom at the end of it all? He had thought the real secret was what Venom had done in his life before El Nysa, but now Phoenix was starting to realize how much more there really was to the other man.]

I do feel somewhat guilty for never really asking him about his friends and acquaintances here.

We discussed some things, but to ask would have felt like prying...

Yeah... I guess. Maybe it's just because he's gone now, but I really do regret not just sitting down and asking him more about his life before all of this.

Like, it feels strange being as close as I was and yet hardly knowing anything about him.

[It was pretty easy to happen actually, what with so much happening in the world at all times. It was difficult to take a step back and just take the time to know more about other people, even the ones close to you.]

Perhaps it is a lesson we can learn for next time? Or in approaching others in the future?

[he may not be quite able to get over his own upbringing in that - it could be seen as impertinent, or rude to ask too many questions - but that part of his life is far away, now. It's time he started to make the most of all that he has]

[It was quite the opposite of Phoenix's life, dedicated to prying and asking questions in order to get to the bottom of matters. But due to the situation, he could not help but wonder if he could emotionally handle getting close to others when they were so likely to disappear again.

Speaking of questions, and it's a bit of an invasive one so you don't have to answer if you don't wish to, but, have you had to deal with this at all before? Losing someone back to the chambers after just managing to get close to them?

Sort of. There was Lance, and there was Yona... Lance was my first guide here, sort of, and when the sickness came I took care of Yona - amongst others, but I think I was definitely closest to her.

[Man, what a heavy topic indeed. Not that he could blame Linneus for bringing it up. For all those involved it was probably one of the worst ordeals that either Olympia and Wyver has gone through.]

No need to apologize. You've been through something horrific. It's only healthy to bring it up on occasion.

... I was safe during the whole thing, and despite the fact that I wanted to help, there really wasn't much I could do. I'm not proficient in fighting or magic or anything of the sort, so I'm sure I would have gotten in the way.

But a really close friend of mine, someone I had known since I was a child, was taken. Venom was the one who saved him when he caught wind of it... It was a horrible situation for so many people.

[if they were conversing he would be laughing - sheepish and wry in lieu of words. He is, but of course that doesn't come through, so there is a pause before-]

It was months ago.

[it doesn't always feel that way - and yet given all that has happened in the interim, it also feels as if it should be long behind him.]

I am no fighter either, but I suppose I must have made some sort of target of myself. But I'm glad you weren't mixed up in all of that. It was awful business.

Catching the wrong sort of attention is easier to do than you would think when it comes to this world. Many of the natural citizens of both Wyver and Olympia were fairly wary of us refugees for quite some time. We have been involving ourselves in their politics and their way of living for a while now. It's inevitable that in just being a refugee to these countries, that we can be perceived as a threat to some.

Especially when so many were raised all their lives to keep as loyal to their country and their history as possible.

Unfortunately, that hatred continued even after the hostage situation. And I doubt, even with the near destruction of the entire planet, that it will stop.

I don't really believe living within these countries will get any easier any time soon. Not in comparison to how I'm sure most of us have lived before all this.

No, I agree with that. Honestly, it is good to hear someone voice the same doubts that I feel.

It is in my nature to want to hope the best, but... I cannot help but notice I am grown more cynical, since.

[he doesn't like that at all, the idea of potentially tarring all Nysans with the same brush. He knows what it is to be judged himself.]

I can understand that. Before I ended up in El Nysa it was part of my career to see the best in people, to hope that they were good.

[It was a fairly difficult feeling to maintain within the current situation, but he was trying his damned hardest to hold onto it.]

But with all that we have been put through, combined with the knowledge that things will never be the same for any of us, such optimism is difficult to maintain.

[But--]

That's why I think it's all the more important to work hard, to fight to help maintain and develop peace and order with both countries. Not in an invasive way, of course, but in a way that it will make all our lives easier. Both refugee and native alike.

It may not be a problem capable of being solved within our lifetime, but it's something that we should at least strive for should we wish for any semblance of normalcy.
