So I don't know shit about dragons, but I do know a few things about fightin' giant monsters, and I want these dudes to fail so bad in their stupid plan that they die humiliated. That would give me an extreme amount of satisfaction. So! I got a proposal.

See, everybody's got their little contributions to this cause, and this is mine- I build things. Specifically, I build gadgets. Tech, weapons, bombs... Mostly those last two. The problem is that unless y'all want me to start ripping non-essentials off the station while those Natha jerks are off on vacation or whatever, I don't have the materials to arm everybody who wants it.

Ergo if you want bigger and badder weapons, you need to come to Wyver and bring me whatever you got that I can make something worth your while with. We'll discuss the payment particulars later.

Uh yeah? If it's like insanely complicated, it might take awhile, but I'm sure the scientifics'll be easy for me to get down. Besides I've been wantin' to get my hands on some of their tech for awhile now.

Likewise. I can only consider myself lucky that someone so skilled is also so practical in a time of crisis. We don't have the luxury of trying to defeat this threat on our own.

[ No, bickering and allowing themselves to be divided by pride would only be the worst sort of hubris. If this small, talking creature is a leader of some organization with such an impressive name, perhaps he can also help organize everyone as well as arm their forces? ]

I can send you the plans now. Gathering the resources will take some time, but we should attempt to create as many weapons as possible in what time we do have. Where are you located?

There's a sky mansion with the ivy cleared away from the door and a handwritten sign that says "This is the front door." That one's ours.

[It's a long story. The Guardians are special have access to flight suits and also made their guests climb rope ladders, and forgot there was a fucking door to the mansion.]

And if anyone gets a little too happy with these weapons, I got ways to make 'em very uncomfortable about trying to con me. I'm being generous, not idiotic.

That won't be much of a problem... From the plans, it doesn't seem like they'd work on anything but dragons.

[ They're a very specialized sort of weapon, as far as Cain can tell. Though then again, maybe it'd be a problem with the dragons in Wyver. Still, it's something they have to consider for later. After they've dealt with the looming threat of the dragon coming to kill them all. ]

I have a few ideas about that, anyway. It depends on your skills, though. Can you design a targeting mechanism for the guns? Say, something that will only allow them to fire at something of a certain size?

Dude, we have got some long conversations to have about my skills and how things that may seem overcomplicated and impossible are actually things I do on slow afternoons.

Ah, that's very reassuring! [ He laughs, good-natured, not taking the grumpiness as a scolding at all. ] It seems like I'm leaving this task in good hands, then.

[ His voice turns wry as he adds: ]

Especially that you're familiar with the impossible. That seems exactly like what the task of slaying Ysverai may be.

He can't be worse than the last guy I killed. Actual living planet. Very, very dead now.

Yeah, it is! I planted a bomb inside of his central nervous system. Probably not a good idea to try that with the dragon though.

[Or maybe next time they send Drax to jump into something's mouth with a bomb and hope he cuts his way out in time...]

No, I think the dragon's breath would incinerate anyone who attempted that first...

[ Unfortunately not a strategy to attempt. ]

Still, it's reassuring to know you have experience fighting something on such a grand scale. Tell me, was the planet mobile? Did you have to engage the entire planetary body itself? Wage a ground campaign?

We mostly just traveled to the core and there were these weird light tentacles, and... Y'know what? You had to be there. It's just one of those things.

[There's just no way to explain Ego. Also the fight hasn't even started where Rocket's from and he doesn't want anyone to know he's just making shit up because the Storm came before they could kill him....]

Just had to be there, huh.

[ His tone shifts to faintly amused. Okay, so maybe this is more bragging than fact, but still. Cain'll let him get away with it as long as his claims about being able to build the weapons are true. ]

I suppose it wouldn't apply to fighting a dragon anyway.

Exactly. And that's all that matters here, ain't it?
