Hey. This isn't one of those 'let's all get to know each other and be best friends' posts. I wanna know what you guys know about telepathy.

First, anyone know what this picture is?

Snake, before you even start, I fuckin' KNOW you can't see it, so I'm not asking you.

Don't cheat, just tell me what you think it's supposed to be.

If you're not into pictures, tell me about Archetypes from your world. There was a psychologist on Earth who noticed the same ideas pop up in various cultures that had no contact with one another. I want to see if that collective unconscious spans worlds too. So, I dunno, talk to each other about the legends and fairy tales and holidays and shit from your worlds and lemme know what common threads you find

The Follow-Up Video

[A couple of days later, when it seems like the majority of the people who are gonna weigh in have done so, Aoi makes a follow-up post.]

Alright, I know you all think I was tryin' to psychoanalyze you with the picture I showed you the other day, but trust me, you guys aren't that interesting. There's a right answer to the picture. I'll show you.

[He holds up the original picture and the solution to the screen.]

Some crackpot psychologist did an experiment to test the transference of knowledge through unseen means. He showed a picture like this to a population of people, and the distribution of answers was pretty random, same as you guys'. Then he broadcast the answer to that population. When he went to a to a remote location that had no contact with anyone from Population A. When he showed the same picture, there was a statistically significant increase in the percentage of people who knew the answer.

Even though nobody had consciously shared the information, because more people knew it, the answer was somehow transmitted. So that's the theory of Morphic Resonance.

Never saw it once before. I'm too busy living in the real world to contemplate my existence in it. All I know about these inkblots is that quacks give them to crazies to figure out what they're feeling or some shit.

[So yeah, it's just a guess.]

Well, you got it right, so you're smarter than most of the dumb-asses around here. It's not an inkblot test, though, so you don't gotta worry about anyone thinkin' you're crazy or anything.

So wait, the second time he did this there were more people who were able to figure out the answer? That's kind of freaky. Does this Morphic Resonance crap have anything to do with... psychic powers, I guess, I dunno what you'd call it.

Yep, that's what he reported, anyways. Most people didn't really believe his research.

[Aoi spreads his hands dramatically, like he's getting to the dramatic part of a ghost story.]

But it turns out that there were people who could send and receive information that way. That's the kind of psychic powers that exist on my world. All the names people have come up with for them are lame, so 'psychic powers' is fine, as long as you don't think of them working the way they do in comics and shit.

So it's not like... telepathy or reading minds. Just sending information. [That... actually sounds kind of cool. Just being able to send information through the mind from one person to the next.] Are you one of these people who can just... I dunno, blast info into people's brains?

[Aoi shrugs.] Apparently it works both ways, but I've always been better at receiving information rather than transmitting it.

[There's a lazy smile accompanying that. He'll let Ermes intuit what she will from that.]

Full disclosure, it's not as cool of an ability as you might think. Usually, it's a pretty weak phenomenon.
