A Public Service Announcement:
Star-Lord is the handsomest, funniest, most modest guy around with the sweetest singing voice and the sickest dance moves. It’s an absolute privilege and delight to call him a friend. My days are enriched for knowing him and fuller for speaking with him.
Everyone adores him. They think he’s a righteous dude.
P.S. – Gamora, you shouldn’t leave your comm lying around unlocked. xoxo Star-Lord

All right, all right. I get it. It was a jerk move and I’m.... [lengthy sigh] I’m sorry.

... No, that’s a lie. What Peter expects to hear is the full force of Rocket’s fake, forced belly laughter. The one where he throws his head back and fakes it, like a faker. And possibly it’d be accompanied by the sound of Rocket’s fist hitting the nearest surface, because he’s faking how hilarious this whole thing is to him.
Ugh.
What Peter does not expect is an apology, and, because his mouth works faster than his brain— ]
—What?
[ blurted out completely thoughtlessly and, above all, incredulously. ]

[It was weird enough the first time!!]

That was weird as hell.
But considering Peter’s struggling through his own apology, at the moment, he hesitates, running his tongue over his teeth as he thinks.
Then, ]
... It’s fine.
[ Unfortunately, Peter’s still sounds pissed. He’s still mortified that some random teenager blabbed about his business to Gamora and then went on to offer all her doubts regarding his efficacy, only for Gamora to, like, agree, and—
He doesn’t embarrass easily – or, in a lot of cases, at all – but the shit with Gamora is weird. Uncomfortable. Uncharted waters. And the only thing Peter really has to go on, as far as “romance” goes, is what he’s seen in movies and on TV, which doesn’t really translate all that well in real life.
(“Is this really going anywhere?” is a thought that he keeps circling back to with increasing frequency.)
But that’s not Rocket’s problem. And Rocket is apologizing for what he did. So. ]
Apology accepted.
[ With an unspoken, “... I guess.” ]
Just— don’t do it again.
