You know, there are better ways to get someone's attention than by stealing their stuff and being obnoxious.

That's a nice assumption, but I have one of you at home, and nothing trains the ego out of him, either.

[ advice? apparently she marries Captain Hook. she's the last person who could give advice. stealing her stuff and being obnoxious worked on her.]

[ He lets out a small, considering hum at that.

Then, slightly puzzled, ]

Soooo. I'm not sure if this is a vote for "keep on keepin' on" or what, now. It's kinda some mixed signals, here.

It was meant as more of an I get it than anything else.

[ she's hoping he has the same level of heroic redeeming qualities as Hook. if he doesn't - kick his ass, Gamora.]

I appreciate the understanding.

[ and he delivers the words in that sort of way that says, "I'm not entirely sure what to do with this, but thanks???" ]

[sheriffing]

[ anything else is gonna sound like advice, Peter. you already ruled that out.]

What prompted this?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ You can certainly try, Ms. Swan, but the likelihood of any advice going in one ear and out the other is exceedingly, terribly, unfortunately high. ]

Like I said – it was a lesson in the importance of information security.

[ but mostly, it seemed like it'd be funny.

Peter thinks he was right, even if he's going to be killed in cold blood, later. ]

That she shouldn't have left it around someone she might have trusted?

That's not really a lesson for information security, it's a lesson against trusting you.

[ He shrugs, though the gesture goes unseen with it being voice only. ]

Then it was a joke.

Are you gonna survive it?

[ it's only funny if you live to tell the tale.]

[ And he drags the word out. ]

I mean, I know Gamora has basically been promising murder, but, I'm pretty sure she doesn't mean it.

If I'm honest, she promises to kill me a lot, so, you know. This is about par for the course.

[sheriffing]

If what I've heard about this place is true, people tend to come back.

[ from death, sometimes from stasis. she sounds almost optimistic.]

It sounds like you have a system that works for you, so. Good luck with that.

[ He frowns a little at that.

Because he remembers seeing his mother up on the station, healthy and whole again, looking like sickness had never touched her. He's not sure what he'll do, if she wakes up. He's not sure what he'll say or how he'll act or what the hell she'll think of the man her little Star-Lord grew up to be, but—

Man. No. He shoves that thought away. ]

I appreciate the well-wishes.

[ And he says it lightly, at least. ]

Thankfully, I run really fast. She'll probably get bored of trying to chase me down to eviscerate me, so we won't have to test that theory.
