I’ll cut right to the chase here; I need a quick way to make some cash that doesn’t involve murder or traveling all over the goddamn world. No political bullshit either; I’m not here to be anyone’s champion. Just quick, simple jobs I can do until I find a place to work permanently. Heavy lifting isn’t a problem.

[He’ll ignore that demand in favor of purposely provoking Rohan.]

You’re gonna need a better skill set if you wanna fight professionally.

I could teach you, if you want.

Are you asking that we spar, Nakahara Chuuya?

[ because he's ........... interested. he's even receptive to the idea of being taught, because knowing how to write a good fight scene is very important. and, in the off chance he gets to kick chuuya's butt (rohan, that will not happen), that sounds pretty sweet. ]

[ This looks like the biggest fucking trap but if he backs down, he just looks like a coward, and Rohan would rather die than have his pride stomped on. Literally. He would choose death. ]

From a million miles away I can see that you're just trying to goad me into removing my safety lock.

However! I accept. There's nothing I love more than beating people at the things they're good at.

[Oh Rohan, you’ve just sealed your fate.]

[ this is top-tier bullying and the worst part is, rohan actually knows what he's in for but is doing it anyway. ]

Fine. You'll be expecting me soon.

[ and, idk, chuuya will get a knock at the door at some point. ]

[Well hello Rohan, have a very smug looking Chuuya as he answers the door.]

You showed up. Good.

[Chuuya will usher Rohan inside before shutting the door behind him. It’s kind of like he’s eager or something.]

Do what you gotta to take the lock off.

Eager, aren't you? I know you can't wait for the chance to harm me, though I can't imagine why.

[ He's only been nice to you, Chuuya, god. ]

Before I do that, let's set things straight. You said that you would teach me. As much as I would hate to admit it, I'm not ... well-versed in martial arts, and that seems to be your forte.

[ Now, getting to his point: ] This will stay a teaching session. If you do anything out of line, just know that I'll not only put back my safety lock, but also make you do something you'll spend the rest of your life regretting.

[ In other words, don't beat him up for fun or he's going to strike back >:( ]

I dunno what you’re talking about.

[Sure, Rohan, sure.

Chuuya huffs, crossing his arms. Rude, Rohan.]

Yeah, yeah. I said I’d teach you and I will. You have my word.

[Something out of line doesn’t include roughing Rohan up a little, right?]

I’m not gonna beat you to a pulp. Promise.

[ That smiling is really suspicious, but whatever, if anything happens he'll just handle it. At least he knows his Stand actually works on Chuuya. ]

You better uphold that promise. [ Rohan gives a wave of the hand and his order is now canceled. Chuuya is free to do whatever he wants. ]

It's done.

[Chuuya doesn’t feel much different, so obviously the only way to make sure Rohan actually kept his word is to test out his ability to hurt the guy.

He’s not a complete asshole, though, so he doesn’t put all of his strength behind the light punch to Rohan’s arm. Light by Chuuya standards is still likely to leave a bruise, though.

And it connects. Perfect.]

Ready for your first lesson?

Ugh! [ While he has a high tolerance for pain, he hates being messed around with, that's why Rohan will hold the affected, bruising area and shoot the shorter guy a glare. ]

Fine. What is it? Don't tell me it's something like 'the importance of a sturdy stance' ... [ He's thinking kung-fu movies. ]

Nope. The first lesson is learning to dodge.

[Chuuya could start throwing punches or trying to land kicks on Rohan, but first he thinks a demonstration might be in order.]

Go on. Try to hit me.

[insist]

[ Oh. The chance to hit someone he doesn't really like is always a very tempting offer. ]

Alright. [ He's going to try PUNCHING CHUUYA IN THE FACE, then. Yeah!!!! ]

[Unfortunately Rohan won’t land that punch, as Chuuya dodges and counters by sweeping a leg under Rohan’s feet and knocking his legs out from underneath him. He’ll probably land on his ass.]

Too slow.

Eugh! [ He's definitely out of his element right now. The last time he actually punched another person was months ago, and that person was a child. He really doesn't have the instincts for fighting, having never had a reason to physically fight anyone off in the past. Rohan lands on his butt. It hurts, but he's thinking nothing of the pain. No, more than that, he's feeling spiteful that Chuuya managed to get a hit in.

From the ground, he's going to try swinging one of his spindly legs over to kick at Chuuya's ankles, hoping to knock him off balance in turn. ]

[Chuuya is definitely pulling his punches, but that doesn’t mean he’s going entirely easy on Rohan either. Of course he’s got years more experience with fighting than Rohan does, so it’s not as great a victory if he kicks the guy’s ass.

Chuuya, being Chuuya, jumps backwards just in time to avoid being kicked, and even without his ability he’s incredibly quick and nimble.]

I hope you’re taking notes.

[ He's so quick, he's got by the time Rohan even manages to make contact. This only frustrates him more. There's nothing he hates more than losing, and without his Stand he can't quite think of a way to overturn this fight in his favour. ]

How is this teaching me anything?! [ Experiencing a fight is actually a good way to learn how to fight. He hates what's happening right now, though -- the fact that he's losing!

It wastes a second of time, but Rohan eventually rolls to his feet, standing up and running toward Chuuya again, doing his best to land a punch. It's not even about learning anymore. He just wants to land one punch. ] I can't wait to wipe that grin off your face!

If you can’t figure out how this is helping you then I dunno what to say.

[Chuuya considers letting Rohan get a hit in so that he doesn’t feel like he’s horribly failing, but in the end he catches Rohan’s fist in his hand before it can hit his face. Holding him off isn’t too difficult, even without his ability. Looks like somebody needs to lift.]

You’re gonna have to be a lot quicker to surprise me.

[Just to be an ass, Chuuya activates his ability and proceeds to make Rohan float off the ground before stepping back a couple of feet with a smirk. Oops, he’s just kind of hanging there now...]

[insist]

[ He's about to deliver a kick when he feels the weight leaving his body, his feet lifting off the ground like he's made of helium. The force that he had put into his kick betrays him then, spinning his body around mid-air. It's just the worst. ]

Aah?! I'm floating?! [ After he's done with struggling, he turns his gaze to Chuuya, glaring daggers at him from below (seeing as he's now upside-down). ]

You went against your word, Nakahara Chuuya. [ What was that about no abilities? ]

I said I wouldn’t use my ability in a fight. I thought we were done fighting.

[Chuuya spins Rohan around so that he’s rightside up, but still floating.]

Besides, you could write about how awesome gravity powers are in your manga if you experience them firsthand, right?

Are you asking me to write you into my manga? I'll think about it. [ He can agree that Chuuya would make a good manga character, but he doesn't want to inflate the guy's ego any larger by telling him that.

Floating around like this, while fun, would be much more satisfying if it was something he actually asked to do. Rohan crosses his arms, expression blase. He can't control where he floats, so he's starting to turn upside down again. ]

If the fight is over, who won? [ A very important question. ]

[Oh? He didn’t expect Rohan to actually agree to putting him in his manga. Of course he’d be super interesting to write about, so it’s no huge surprise, but still. Just for that he’ll set Rohan down on his feet instead of dropping him on his ass.]

Isn’t it obvious?

[Chuuya won, Rohan, sorry. But you’ll get another chance. Maybe sooner than you think.]

Gotta give you props for not just giving up.
