This has been bothering me for a little while....

Back on my world there was a tyrant who was overthrown and killed. Before he died, he told the person who took him down "by killing me, you have doomed yourself." We never know exactly what he meant but then all of this happens. I just want to know if--

["if this is my fault" but she holds that back. There's a pause for a second or two before she continues.]

I want to know if anybody else here was warned about the end of your world. If there was any way to have seen this coming.

[ Writings and stories, huh? She might be sitting up where she was laying down, not that present company can see as much. Honestly, she prefers to leave the thinking on such matters to Washu, but Washu is still in stasis and she's got her own concerns this whole Darkness thing. The Natha, too, given they've plucked people after the fact as opposed to outright stopping the destruction where she'd assume they'd be able. ]

Well, did these writings and stories have to do with just your planet or others? [ A beat. ] You're thinking it's not just coincidence, right? So, why?

Just mine. That's why I'm asking.

[She's not sure about the Natha herself. There's too many unanswered questions and regardless of her realization that good people can exist in this world too she's not ready to completely count on altruism.]

The story went that the Lord Ruler was the hero who saved the world from the Deepness a thousand years ago and founded his Final Empire. [She frowns.] Of course, we learned it didn't exactly happen like that but there was still something threatening the world. Something that had to be stopped back then.

If your planet hadn't achieved space travel and this incident is isolated, it's probably just a coincidence. Individual planets can have all sorts of business going on that doesn't affect their neighbors or anyone else on the galactic stage, even something like that.

You're wondering if this 'Deepness' and the Darkness could be the same thing?

No worries at all. And, yeah, just didn't want anybody thinking this newbie has insider info

[That... sure is a bunch of words. Obviously, she knows there are more worlds now but she'd never really envisioned people being able to travel from world to world whenever they wanted. The idea seems impossible to her but, well, hadn't she done that herself now?]

I am. The one thing that's been lost from all the stories is exactly what the Deepness was. Nobody knows for certain.

Talk about a headache. There's really no definitive way to tell either. The best you can do is compare stories and make as educated a guess as you can, am I right?
