[When a voice comes over the device, its tone is stern and mildly demanding.]
I've had quite enough of all this doom and gloom.
We are having a meeting. The Thesa Station, before the latest patch of unfortunate souls join us. I'm preparing a room for all of us, and by the bloody Maker you all are going to join me. Bring something to write with, because I will implore you to take notes. If you can't make it, I'll just assume you'll listen to my soothing voice over these devices anyway.
[With a click, it almost ends there—but Dorian quickly resumes the stream.]
... Also, if anyone with the strength to lift a few kegs, chairs, and other heavy objects would join me beforehand, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, perhaps, someone who can work a stove. And... also someone with more technical know-how than I—I am quite necessary in this equation, rest assured, but it would make things much easier. Cheers.
[And, finally, it ends there.]

+ what do you need tech-wise? i'm from 2112 so i know ABOUT a lot of tech but i'm not like a code monkey or anything
also is this a party or???
no subject
It's not a party. At least, it won't be a very exciting party if you want it to be a party.

oookay, let's back this up
do you know what a computer is?
also a party would be better than going over our emergency preparedness plan or whatever, but i'll take free booze either way

I don't have the faintest idea, no. And if you're only coming to get trashed, at least get trashed when it's all said and done. That's what I'm doing.

[it's so hard to be from a futuristic society when everyone around you is ancient]
so here's the deal
the thing you're using to post to the network? that's basically a computer
you feed it input, like your voice (or pressing the keys on the keypad like i'm doing), and it coughs up output like a post on the network or replies to that post
it probably seems like magic to you, right? you press buttons and stuff happens?
well. idk it might actually be magic in this case, who knows with the natha
but point is it usually isn't
at least in my world, where magic wasn't a thing
usually, what makes the device do things when you press buttons is software
programs
they're like the equivalent of a recipe to make food, cause it tells the device what to do when you push a button
those instructions that make up a program are called coding, or code
and the people who write the instructions are jokingly called code monkeys sometimes
don't ask why, idek
but fine, i'll hold off until the boring part is over
are we at least gonna play drinking games or something at the end? seems like kinda a waste of gathering us all together if we just do serious shit the whole time
